I seriously doubt it is the lose of senior playing time that is eating everyone's grape. I think it is the lose of the chance for playoffs. HSU has typically played inexperienced players A LOT in the second half. Thus cutting into seniors playing time. It was never an issue when we were winning.

Go HSU. Chin up fight hard. Finish strong.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE THIS WEEKEND.

It might not be everyone's grape but it was the grape of bombscot who seems to not appreciate seniors losing playing time so that others can gain experience.

On another note, the TDT wrote a story today about the Crusaders waiting for the regional rankings to come out tomorrow. An interesting twist of the story is that MC'S Norman Joseph is on the regional comittee so if he pushes for UMHB than he is essential pushing for a probable rematch.

Congrats to the ASC players making the D3 Team of the week.

Zach Hubbard QB, Howard Payne
Bryson Tucker RB, UMHB (can we call him Iron Man since he played both ways last week?)
Jerrad Jefferson LB, UMHB
Andrew Wallace LB, McMurry
Gene Hudson CB, McMurry

Way to go.  For the full list look here:

My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Congratulations to former Mississippi College wide receiver Jake Allen, he'll be suiting up for the Packers this weekend against the Vikings after being elevated from the practice squad today.

How long, if ever, has it been since an ASC player actually played in the league? I know Fred MacAffee for MC, but he might not have played in the ASC. I mean played, not signed, practice squad, etc.

Fred played for MC when we were still a Division II in the Gulf South Conference. Fred's last season at Mississippi College was in 1990.

UMHB 5th in 1st regional rankings. Don't see us moving up unless Thomas More beats Wash Jeff and then Thomas More jumps us but with an AQ. Don't see Wesley or MC losing. 3 weeks left, any indication where this 1st poll puts UMHB in their quest to get a Pool C bid.

Based on the rankings, if things stay the same are we basically assured of an ASC rematch in the first round?

Given that I can easily find a mapquest route under 500 miles, probably so.

Your one hope is that Millsaps ends up with the SCAC's automatic bid.  In that scenario you could match up Millsaps w/UMHB and fly someone to MC.  Or, match up Millsaps and MC again and fly UMHB somewhere (or someone to UMHB if they ended up in the top half of the bracket).

For Millsaps to get the SCAC bid, one of two things has to happen:
- DePauw loses to Austin College, Millsaps and Centre both win out and tie for the SCAC championship, Millsaps gets the bid on the strength of its victory over Centre.
- DePauw and Centre both lose a game (Centre has to play @ Trinity in two weeks), Millsaps wins the conference outright.
- If only Centre loses, DePauw gets the bid due to their head-to-head win over Millsaps.

Austin has given a lot of SCAC teams a tough time.  They lost by one to Millsaps and to Centre by a TD.   I can't see DPU losing a home game to them, but DPU has been oddly inconsistent this season with some surprisingly close wins against lesser teams.   Some of that was when their QB was out, but he's back now.

Nothing wrong with that in my opinion.  If Millsaps and MC both get bids, how likely is the NCAA to pair them in the first round?

Ron Boerger

IMO pretty likely since the NCAA wouldn't have to spring for lodging or airfare for either team.

I would love to see an early round rematch with MC. In the past 8 years only one team has beaten UMHB more than one time. That would be the UW-W Warhawks.

UMHB will be pouring on the points to show the NCAA they deserve the pool C bid. For example in 2004 UMHB scored over 60 their last 3 games.

I kind of wish that the last 3 games had a little more pop to them.  Their combined record is 7 and 15.

Just to add one clarifying point:
- Millsaps has to win on the road at 0-7 Sewanee this week.  Seems likely, but still has to be done to add to Ron's point above...

Probably a few future Crusader and other ASC players playing on ESPNU tonight as the Belton-Temple is on national TV right now.

Unless Huntingdon gets in as well. Perhaps then Millsaps-UMHB and Huntingdon-MC.
