IMO pretty likely since the NCAA wouldn't have to spring for lodging or airfare for either team.

Unless Huntingdon gets in as well. Perhaps then Millsaps-UMHB and Huntingdon-MC.

Good point, forgot about HC.  Thanks!

That also brings up another potentially favorable scenario for UMHB, where Millsaps does not get in, but the NCAA could still match up HC and MC and then do the flight thing for UMHB.

Congratulations to HSU wide receiver ZaVious Robbins, who has been named one of only two D3 finalists for the William V. Campbell (formerly "Draddy") Trophy.  Mr. Robbins has a very impressive 3.9 GPA, majoring in Marketing.  As a finalist, he will receive an $18K post-grad scholarship; I think the overall winner receives a $25K scholarship in addition to the trophy.

Big time congrats to Robbins. that is a very nice package and could be a great way to pay for his extra year next year since I assume he will be applying for the medical red shirt.

For the UMHB-ETBU game I am guessing we are going to see some change in the QB situation. I have been hearing some talk of things changing and now on the two deep this week they listed the QB as LiDarrael Bailey OR Kyle Noack.

If Robbins is graduating this year, that 18k could go a long ways towards a Masters at HSU.  HSU locks in tuition for students as long as they remain enrolled at least part time (I think its PT) and that lock in carries over to grad school if one starts immediately.  If he has to take classes anyway so he can play...
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Seems like a logical NCAA pairing!   ;D

ok I have been out for a while and since I missed the debate on my own post what would be the Cru defense All Time team? And I will admit I have not been able to follow the past few years as close as I did since I have not lived in Belton since 2005 so I am asking for help.

MLBs- Preston Meyer, Jerrell Freeman
Safeties- Josh Kubiak, Tony Salazar
OLB- Rojo Johnson (I know he was a strong safety but since he played so close to the line I considered him an OLB). I thought I remembered Eric Henri played OLB too as a freshman but I may be wrong.

Those are my safeties and LBs
Help with the DL and OLB like I said I don't know many of the newer players since I have not seen the Cru play in a few years. So is anybody up for a team?

CruAlum58

At LB/Safety you would have to include EHenri, Trina Lusk, Jeremy Salinas, Ryan McCabe, Tucker, DWill.
Best corners Loco, Barcak, Parker, AJ, McPhaul.

Defensive Tackles- Elex Reed, Calvin Bradley, Balderas, Terrance Carrol. There were more that were great players Mosely, Darby, Jenkins.

Defensive Ends- Shawn Williams, Zunk, Dewease, Manning. The guys that are playing now have a bigger upside they have to prove it these next seven weeks, hopefully.

Shawn had all of the tools and Zunk was a gamer.

The underlying factor about all of these guys is they were willing to lay it all on the line for their team mates. That is what has made UMHB such a dominant program. Just my opinion, I wouldnt trade the guys that lined up next to me for anyone.  8) Go get em CRU.

We probably shouldn't leave Jerrell Freeman off this list.

Really who cares. Couldn't you guys get together and Email your all time fantasy football CRU team?

Toby,

The tuition lock you speak of (at least in my day 98-01). Required a student to remain FT (12). My guess is that is still the case however its not a bad deal either way you look at it. All my friends tuition at State School and other private institution sky rocketed every year. Wish i could lock in a tuition rate for my 2 year old now.

Knowing full well I am extremely predjudiced, but I think Bret Page is on this list as well.  ;)

Unless Centre manages to get the SCAC bid. By my calculations Centre and Huntingdon are less than 500 miles apart.

Bingo!  475 miles, but I don't think that Centre does win the SCAC.  (+1!)

I think you're right.  I think it is full time, but still that would put Z's graduate tuition under 500/hr and HSU may pop 700/hr in the next year.
