If the Regional Rankings have UMHB in the bottom half, such that they would not be given a home game, then I would rather see them shipped to a bracket outside the bracket that contains Miss College.   :)

I'm with you on that one Ralph. I'd like to see BHMU get a shot at another bracket. I think it would be great for the ASC. Both MC and BHMU could show their stuff and not be a part of the normal lets eliminate texas early so we don't have to worry about them later.

McM Blue Devil

I have been very quiet about the HSU-McM game all week and my nerves are starting to build.  As one who knows our team pretty well, let me give my view of the game.

In my opinion it all comes down to the offensive and defensive lines.
1. If McM can protect our QB and give him time I think our offense can make plays.  However if Jake is running for his life we could have problems.

2. Can McM's defense stop the run?  Our d MUST stop the run effectively to try to keep HSU off balance.

One other thing to watch:

Composure.  How does our young team in a resurgent program handle the first "big"game they have played in.  Can we handle the emotions, intensity of the game against a program and team that is used to it?

With all that being said, how fun it is to have an actual build up to this game.  In a cool move on campus, players are giving out their jersey to faculty and staff members to wear to our pep rally tomorrow and to the game on Saturday.  My hats off to Coach Mumme and his staff for what they have already accomplished this year.

Go McMurry!

McDirty?

I was not going to use Hardened-Sinners either!

:D   ;D   ;)

easy guys its a term of endearment. You will also have to use Almost Christian (ACU) since we are throwing caution to the wind. Good luck to both teams this weekend.

Finkle,

I wasn't aware that HSU had an All Female team out for football this year. IMHO the Cowgirls probably beat  you this weekend too. In any event you have us hands down in Swimming. Looking forward to this weekend should be a fun game. I hope to make it out so i can check out the improvements to MCDIRTY's stadium.

Swimming?

As a child/teenager, I used to try to get my Baptist friends to go to Methodist church camp by enticing them with "swimming with the girls".  Their mothers would disapprove of "mixed bathing" such as it was!

Yes, "Hardened-Sinners" is a term of endearment that my late father recalled from the 1930's, that and "Horrid Pain".   ;)

This game may be the closest since the 2002 game

http://www.d3football.com/story.php?story=1007

when HSU Matt Moskosky caught the TD pass from Dustin Proctor to go ahead 7-6 with 12:26 left in the fourth quarter or

the 1998 OT game.

I am in complete agreement about this having the possiblity of being a very close game. The 1998 game was brutal (i was a student then). Should be a great game. Nice Post Blue Devil +1. Mixed Bathing. Never really got that one but it sounds cool.

Go Cowboys

It will be a great hgame, I was apart of the 2002 game when we had the lead 13-7 mid fourh qrt. Plated in all 4 of our games from 01-04 and besides 02 this will be one that can go either way!!

I agree with Blue Devil!! If we have a QB on his feet we will have a chance!! Will be a great one
Look forward to seeing it!! Also just got an email from Coach Mumme and I quote "Let's beat HSU"" cannot say it better myself!! I'm ready for it!!

SOUTH REGION
1. Wesley 5-0 8-0
2. Hampden-Sydney 8-0 8-0
3. Thomas More 8-0 8-0
4. Huntingdon 4-0 7-1
5. Mississippi College 6-1 6-2
6. Mary Hardin-Baylor 5-1 7-1
7. Centre 7-1 7-1
8. Dickinson 7-1 7-1
9. Washington and Jefferson 7-1 7-1
10. DePauw 6-1 6-1

Biggest surprise to me is Huntingdon going from 8 in week 1 to 4 this week. At worst I though we would stay at 5, with an outside chance of being 4. I haven't analyzed the other 3 regions but assuming UMHB wins out I am concerned about our chances of getting a pool C bid. Any thoughts from the veterans out there.

they will get in...looks like they are in the same boat as UWW was in last year: one loss and ranked in the middle of the region. Besides, if UMHB didn't make it..who would we play in the semi's then? it just wouldn't be the same  8)
That's what I want another balmy 5 degree day in the lovely hamlet of Whitewater, WI ;) If it comes to that maybe the 3rd time is the charm.

bet you'll take a cold playoff game in Whitewater than not making the playoffs at all.  ;) they should get in

I can always layer and liquor up for the PERK, you are so right. ;D Would even take a trip back to Wesleys band-box stadium over sitting at home.

Jason, thanks for the Around the Region!  This is much excitement about the meeting of the Cowboys and the "Indians".
