Congrats to both of the HSU soccer teams, must be a good sign of the ASC soccer programs when the only losses Trinity had was to UMHB and HSU.

Is Born Power Index something that is updated weekly and if it is does anybody know when?

Mr Born updates his index early in the week.

QuoteTeams are apparently NOT seeded.     Here is a reply from the NCAA to my email this am:

"From: "Brown, Shonna" <sbrown@ncaa.org>Add sender to ContactsTo: "O'Hara, Nancy" <nohara@ncaa.org>, "gtoregon@yahoo.com" <gtoregon@yahoo.com>George,

We do not seed the teams on the DIII football bracket.  The home teams are determined by evaluating which institutions have submitted bids to host and the selection criteria.  Teams are notified on Friday prior to a game if it is clear who will host the next round and others are determined on Sunday morning as the committee reconvenes to decide this.

This is the way it has always been in DIII football.

Thanks for your support.

Nancy,

I hope you can answer a question that is being debated by many fans.   What is the seeding of all 32 teams in the selection announced yesterday?

No one seems to know and there is much debate on who is seeded where in the rankings.   We D-3 fans are always excited about the playoffs and would like this information since it determines which team will be the host game for the first four rounds.

Many were disappointed that this not announced yesterday with the bracket announcement.

Thank you,

George Thompson"

I don't even know how to react to the comments made by Shonnaa Brown. They obviously do seed the teams, I know that usually plays no impact on first rounds match up since they pair teams to make it as cheap as possible but at least it can mean something once you get passed that round.

Haven't the seedings always come out when the poll was first released or shortly after?

Central and UMHB appear to be mirror images of each other with very similar stats.  UMHB has slightly better stats, but Central has a tougher SOS, evening things out pretty well.  Should be a great game with both teams having talented running offenses going against superb rushing defenses.  I think the special teams play could be the difference in this one.  If the ball bounces our way a few times, that wouldn't hurt either!

Safe travels to Pella, welcome one and all.  Stop by Jaarsma's bakery before the game, for some nice tailgating treats.

This is very exciting.  We will see quite a few new teams, hopefully, this time around.  I know nothing about these teams, but it doesn't really matter.

The coaches will get the guys ready; all it comes down to is playing CRU football.  Everyone is out to prove a point against us no matter where we end up.  We have to come out, cut down on the penalties, run it up the gut, and pass it like we can! That is what we need to do CRU, let's go!

Interesting game plan. I don't feel like UWW will/would have any point to prove against you. Seems like they've already done that. What point do the others have to prove?

We really don't have any point to prove against you, no offense meant but the only thing we want to do is win and play the next week, doesnt matter who its against.

I would say that fact that we have been to the national championship, have played in two consecutive semi finals, and have been ranked in the top 5 to start the season most years, gives a lot of people the desire to prove something against us.  I think that we are also seen as a program that has a lot to prove.  We've been unable to make that next step into the championship territory, so we have a lot to prove.

It really doesn't matter.  The guys will be ready.  It will be a great game.  I look forward to it.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

So, is UMHB the #5 seed?  If so, who is the 6...or who would have to win from the other side of the bracket for UMHB to host in the Quarters (Third Round)?
If UMHB and CLU both win, who will host round 2?

How far is Pella from Des Moines? Any decent hotels in Pella? How about tailgating before the game for visitors? Any input would be appreciated.

Just Curious how is central's SOS tougher? I would think UMHB has more competition in the ASC and plays a tougher schedule. Aside from Central your conference only has 2 teams with winning seasons. How is that a tougher SOS? What am i missing? Good luck Cru and MC.

You might have better luck asking these questions on their board.   ;)

Just going by d3football's SOS information.  I know nothing about your team or your competition.  Not meaning to dis anyone, just trying to figure out how they will match up and this is how I see it.  Our two non-conference games were against another playoff team, that admitedly wasn't that strong and UW-Steven's Point.

Central wasn't in the playoffs last year, but that just made the guys more focused this year.  We aren't strangers to the playoffs either and, though it is ancient history, we have been to the Stagg Bowl 3 times, winning it once in the early years when we were one of only 4 teams invited to the playoffs.  I don't know that we have anything to prove to anyone but ourselves.  Well, there is Wartburg's footballdaddy on the IIAC board.   :)  And I think Linfield would like to prove something to us...

I believe (I believe!) Disney would host in Fantasyland, not sure if it would be Orlando or Anaheim at this point.
