Interesting that UMHB and Linfield have 2 common opponents.  Should be a good game.  Is the game going to be streamed on the internet?
Early reports on the NWC site state no video from Linfield.

Thank you D.O.C. Now I remember why I hate Linfield.  ;D

We just ran out of time. Hopefully this years contest will end differently.

As far as Munoz goes, he is a kicker... As Romeo from Tin Cup said, he must have "el hosels" (the shanks)

About that National Championship game in 2004 vs Linfield, maybe this has been discussed on here before but I can't remember. On the blocked punt late in the game, why was that not roughing the kicker? I just looked through the youtube clips posted above, and the Linfield guy missed the ball and hit the punter.

I'm sure this was discussed and I'm bringing up an old wound, but that is a tough way to lose. I didn't realize that happened.

+1 for the Tin Cup reference...
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Chris-

It was a punt attempt...not a punt.  Have to kick the ball to get that call.

On the film Hambrick tries to punt it but the Linfield player leg whips the punter's leg as he dives passed him so he can't kick it. I've never seen that happen before.

Since we're going to revisit the game I've had one thing that always stuck in my mind.  After the punt block, the very next play was the swing pass to Jenkins for the diving TD, but what always blew my mind was the Cru DB that pulled up short of trying to make a tackle on the play (#11).  Maybe he thought Jenkins was already in but the guy just stopped.

The play is about 3/4 into the clip. http://www.catdomealumni.com/topten/04stagg.html

You are taught to jump where the ball will be and the because the punter dropped the ball no punt attempt.

I always wondered about that play...from the side lines we never saw the entire play.  After watching it on video it seems like he just stopped short...odd.

I will say that the 04 MHB team( other than maybe the 02/03 Johnnies) was the toughest and most fundamental teams I played against.
Do you know what a JAIL BREAK is?

How about that, I just noticed your email, that's great. That must have been an awesome experience for you. It looked like you got there so fast you could have grabbed the ball out of the air and scored. Still, the punter went through his normal steps and had a normal drop, but it looks like you ran passed him and then clipped his kicking leg with your left leg when he was trying to punt it. Just an opinion from someone not associated with UMHB.

Either way, doesn't matter now. It's been five years and it's not a foul if the whistle doesn't blow anyway. Congrats on the NC, hopefully an ASC school will get one soon. It should be a great game this weekend.
