BTuck was named an AFCA All-American as a DB.  Congrats to him and to all of the ASC reps on the AFCA all-american team.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I'm already starting to think about next year.  Will MC be able to repeat as champion?  What is in store for UMHB?  Will HSU rebound?  Continued improvement at McM?  ETBU?  New coach at TLU?  Only 8 months and everyone will be reporting for practice.

MC tight end Renard Ellis also was an AFCA All-American. For a tight end, 58 catches for 748 yards and 8 TD's is a huge season. I thought he was well-deserving of the AFCA recognition, hard to believe another tight end had better numbers this year.

Congrats to Tucker and Rideaux as well, both had great seasons.

Chris, I thought I saw an MC Olineman on the list.  Must have been Ellis.

Bill,

I think McM will improve more next season, a lot of Sophs on that team.  I'm pretty sure HSU will rebound and might have Feaster and Robbins if they apply for the Medicals. I'm curious about the Cru (as always) wondering who will return and how the QB/offensive scheming will be addressed.

Bill,
Just from a quick look at the depth charts, and if everyone comes back.

UHMB: It looks like they bring most everyone back. On defense they return everyone but Tucker at safety and Salinas at LB. On offense 4 of 5 OL are back, the QB's return, the fullback and most WR's. The big question offensively will be who's at TB. The kickers return.

HSU: Return pretty much the entire offense, and should add Feaster and the other guys hurt early this year. The defense returns most everyone as well.

MC: We lose a lot of quality. Shaffer and Renard Ellis are gone on offense. The offensive line should be better, the WR's return, and I think we could arguably have the top running back duo in the league with Stephen Knight and Austin Divinity.  The QB should be junior Tommy Reyer who was Co-Freshman of the Year two years ago.
On defense LB Quartez Ashmore along with both CB's are gone. But even with a lot of starters back, you'll probably see a lot of player reshuffling after a tough season on that side of the ball.

Not sure what LC has back but I think McLaughlin returns at QB.

The league should be extremely tough again.

LC will have McLaughlin back @ QB. Off the top of my head, LC is only losing about 5 seniors that contributed, three were starters - 2 on defense & 1 on offense. I look for the Wildcats to continue to improve under Coach Dunn.

The Cru also loses Bret Parker on D.  That's a big loss.  Quincy Daniels has 1 year of eligibility, but people suspect will not return because he can graduate.  There was another RB, Ricky Williams, that looked good until he broke a bone. who is a sophomore.  Plus, there are 6 or 7 more RBs on the roster, some of whom saw game time this season.  I'm guessing there will be at least one quality RB in the group or coming in in the fall.

Crazy to think how far TLU has fallen. They actually played HSU for the conference championship in 2004 (would have been a three way tie). They couldnt wait to run Tom Mueller out of town when all he had done was string together three consecutive winning seasons. Now three years later they are 0-10, got kids getting warrants instead of diplomas, and are looking for a new coach again.  ::)

I'm rootin' for the Abilene Eagles.

Tell Herschel Sims he's welcome to come to LINFIELD to compete for a position.

HAppy Holidays to all!

Saw him on to my trip to Abilene in October. The Eagles were up 35-0 at the end of the 1st quarter. Think Texas and Oklahoma nay get first dibs. Sorry Wildcats.

More likely Texas Tech.  AHS students seem to like Tech, and Texas has tapped Colt McCoy's younger brother who is playing in the state finals this weekend

Once again, congrats to Bryson Tucker for being honored on the 3rd team AP Little All-America squad.  My favorite quote from the article in the Temple paper:

QuoteHe finished his career as the only player in Crusaders history to account for a touchdown in six ways - rushing, receiving, passing, kickoff return, punt return and fumble return.

Can't score too many more ways than that.

And again as he is named a first team all-american for D3football.com as an All purpose player.

Also congrats tom Bret Parker for his selection to the 2nd team and Dustin Davis for his honorable mention.

Herschel just had a nice 60-yarder to seal it. You would probably like to see see Ronell at QB for the Cru Toby. Seems like he would fit their scheme well.
