Ralph, did you call me a hybrid?   ;D
You know my user name for pokerstars.net and several other sites is crucowboy,  guess you're right
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

baddog

Sounds more like "mutant" than "hybrid". ;D
Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!

As long as cru comes first in that user name Toby, you should be fine  ;)

"I think that the UMHB fans will consider us a powerhouse when we keep them from getting conference rings for 2-3 years running."

Ralph,

i honestly don't think BHMU views anyone but themselves as a powerhouse. Every fan post is about ALL they have accomplished. BLAH BLAH BLAH! Even in the years with shared titles its been ALL BHMU BLAH BLAH BLAH! All i know is that the target keeps getting bigger and its just a matter of time before the ivory tower falls. Could be this year. Have to wait till Sept to find out.

Go Cowboys!!!
Cowboy fan, that is exactly why I worded that statement the way that I did.  :)

UMHB has a conference title (outright or shared) every year since 2002 with the exception of that 2004 Stagg Bowl season.  No one has kept them from getting a ring of some type.

Ralph,

even if you get at BHMU i still think they will claim dominance even i they don't win conference championships. The only thing that will stop this out of control train is a few "down years" or rebuilding years. Which i believe are on the horizon. Happy hunting to all this coming season. I hope at least a few teams bag a crusader.

Toby,

I was in abilene last weekend with some buddies and we hit Harolds. Glad to see it back in action after the kitchen fire. The Hot Water Cornbeard is still the best.

No I meant UMHB and seriously what would you call us? Lets just say you didn't know it was us, what would you call a team that has has gone 60-12 since October 24th 2004 and only 2 of those losses came against conference opponents?

Maybe dynasty is more appropriate than powerhouse!

UTSA announced their 2011 schedule ... McM, Sep 10, in SA, is the only D3 school.

Say what?! D1 wannabe UTSA will play D3 McMurry in 2011?

Why?

It's a home game, and UTSA may not have had enough money to bring in another D1/2/NAIA team, or they may not have been able to find someone who was willing to come in that early in the season.  It's only their second game, and no doubt Coker wants to be sure he comes away with a W.

McM probably gets a nice guarantee (relative to what D3 teams normally get) and some exposure in San Antonio.  Plus they get to play in the Alamodome!   ;)

How empty is the Alamodome going to be for that game and all of the UTSA games though? Playing in the Alamodome is great but to me it seems like that place is going to be so empty.

By the time that the guys who play that game finish telling the story for the umpteen thousandth time in the year 2062, there will have been 45,000 fans to have seen that game.   ;)

haha good point Ralph, it just kind of reminds me of my high school days going to watch my school play at Texas Stadium and we would fill maybe 5% of the stadium. I love going to game where the crowd fits the stadium, some of my favorite games have been at HSU because we bring a good crowd and they fill the home side.

The UTSA fanboys think they'll get 20 or 30 thousand people for those first few games.  Good luck with that.
