"I think that the UMHB fans will consider us a powerhouse when we keep them from getting conference rings for 2-3 years running."

Ralph,

i honestly don't think BHMU views anyone but themselves as a powerhouse. Every fan post is about ALL they have accomplished. BLAH BLAH BLAH! Even in the years with shared titles its been ALL BHMU BLAH BLAH BLAH! All i know is that the target keeps getting bigger and its just a matter of time before the ivory tower falls. Could be this year. Have to wait till Sept to find out.

Go Cowboys!!!
Cowboy fan, that is exactly why I worded that statement the way that I did.  :)

UMHB has a conference title (outright or shared) every year since 2002 with the exception of that 2004 Stagg Bowl season.  No one has kept them from getting a ring of some type.

Ralph,

even if you get at BHMU i still think they will claim dominance even i they don't win conference championships. The only thing that will stop this out of control train is a few "down years" or rebuilding years. Which i believe are on the horizon. Happy hunting to all this coming season. I hope at least a few teams bag a crusader.

Toby,

I was in abilene last weekend with some buddies and we hit Harolds. Glad to see it back in action after the kitchen fire. The Hot Water Cornbeard is still the best.

Some friends popped in to town a few weeks ago and we did the same.  I love the jalapeno hot water cornbread, but the strawberry cobbler is what takes it to another level for me.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

hey i'll go to the mcm and utsa game, mainly because my grandson will be playing for mumme and the boys, but who knows maybe they'll give them a good game since mumme has been building a pretty good team with some of the recruits he got this year.

Ron Boerger

Just keep in mind that game is in 2011, not the upcoming season.   :)

I was surprised when I saw UTSA was playing McM.  Incarnate Word played TLU this past season.  UTSA will have close to 60 scholarship players when they play the game.

So I was watching the 2009 Linfield highlight of the Hardin-Simmons game (transparent plug) and I started thinking about what the word is on Feaster's shoulder.  Is the kid 100% healthy and coming back for sure?

Gray Fox

The late Fess Parker played football at HSU before being stabbed in the chin in a road rage incident.  He could no longer play football, so he transferred to UT.

...and in his honor, the HSU team will play with little tails attached to their helmets the 2010 season.

Justin is doing fine.  He suffered the same injury that Bradford (OU) had. He's been in the weight room working hard as ever and tells me his shoulder is good.  Looking forward to another season.  Thanks for asking.

Noticed the 23rd is about to pass into oblivion and no one has posted today.
Let me give it a shot....

A Texan is drinking in a Colorado bar when he gets a call on his cell phone.

He orders drinks for everybody in the bar because his wife has just given birth to a baby boy weighing 25 pounds.

Nobody can believe that any new baby can weigh in at 25 pounds, but the Texan just shrugs, "That's about average in Texas, folks...like I said, my boy's a typical Texas baby boy."

Two weeks later the Texan returns to the bar. The bartender says, "Say, you're the father of that baby that weighed 25 pounds at birth, aren't you? Everybody's been making' bets about how big he'd be in two weeks....so how much does he weigh now?

"The proud father answers, "Seventeen pounds."

The bartender is puzzled, and concerned. "What happened? He was 25 pounds the day he was born."

The Texas father takes a slow swig from his beer, wipes his lips on his shirt sleeve, leans into the bartender and proudly says,

"Had him circumcised".

There is also a video with Gavan Bass (DB on the football team and LJ, 100 and 4 x 100 in track) and Coach Crousen.

The first 6 games should be a test for the Cru.

Wow!  UMHB is either 6-0 and #3 in the country (at worst) or they are fighting for their playoff lives.

this has the potential for an amazing run or a very bad year.
