Hey Ralph,

I'm sure Linfield will be looking for non-conference games after their 2-year deals with Cal Lu and LaVerne run out in 2011.  I'd love to see Linfield paired off with another ASC team but I'm not fond of traveling to Abilene from DFW.

All the excuses are well and good but the fact remains that if McMurry has the Top 10 in its sights (or one McMurry fan does), we won't know for quite some time.
Exactly, and until we can beat HSU and UMHB in the same season, we are not Top 10 material.   :)

LaCollege and Mississippi College should finish in the top half of the ASC this season, too.

Ralph do you happen to know when those contracts were decided? I see that Trinity replaced McM with Howard Payne and Austin replaced y'all from TLU so the easy analysis is they wanted an easier game since McM is on the way up but they might have made the decison before that was happening.
They were 2-year deals, and AC was in the second 2-year contract.

The SCAC schools can rotate their non-conference games.

IMHO, TLU and Trinity ought to play every season.  Proximity!

I wish that we played them again, too.

I think it is bit of a reach to project McMurry football much higher than the early polls has them going in for 2010.  McMurry has to get quicker, stronger, build depth, and gain valuable experience.  2009 was a surprise year for lots of us who  proudly wear the colors year in and year out.  We had increased expectations for the past season, but it was better.  Expectations for 2010 could be a bigger step up from that.  McMurry has a fine coaching staff, adminstration, and board who back the sports program as a whole.  I think we are on our way.  I agree with Pat in that we need to see where we are in October.  This is could be the year we are increasingly competative with H-SU and UMHB and the other fine Universities.

If the sun continues to shine on our faces, and the wind is at our backs, then who can say what our hopes are for 2011.

McM has the benefit of playing UMHB and HSU early this year.  If they manage to start off the year hitting on all cylinders in the passing game, I think they could upset the conference apple cart
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Hey Ralph-Have you heard anything about some recruit from Arlington named Pritchett, a safety, supposedly quick and big hitter, to help out the defense on mcmurry?

No, but I hear that Coach Mumme is having a good off-season.

Is he relaxing or thinking about the upcoming season and thrilled about what could be a good year for mm?

UNO is reclassifying to D-III.

UNO needs a mentor institution in the re-classification process.

Pull quote...

QuoteUNO currently competes in nine sports, of which five are men's and four are women's.   It intends to add football, women's golf, and women's soccer in the coming year.

Additionally, the University has partnered with the University of Texas at Dallas over the past several months.

Very interesting...

Sioux

Could or would they be interested in the ASC?

Sioux

Lots of speculation of what is happening in the LSC with okie schools leaving. Some people on the D2 LSC boards are wondering if any ASC schools could make the jump to D2. Any thoughts?

Ron Boerger

Re UNO, yes, the ASC is the logical choice for them.  It has the least travel of any option and the school would seem to be a good fit there.

I'm not sure that fits into any of their athletic philosophies.  Plus, there would be significant scholarship costs.  I wouldn't expect any of them to make that move.
