Interesting News Story from Saskatchewan:

http://www.saskriders.com/article/freeman-named-defensive-player-of-the-week

Jerrell has seemingly been buried on the depth charts and yet continues to provide value to the team and was this week's CFL defensive player of the week.

You would think that when your #3 MLB is named DPOW that it's time to bump them up on the chart!

or at least find him a spot on the field regularly
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

From the limited amount of information I can find about CFL football it seems that the Roughriders like Jerreel and are looking for places to find him since he obviously has some potential with them.

McM had 99 show up for Varsity and will have close to 40-50 show up for the JV squad, we should have close to 140 on the field once the school yearstatts - good luck all teams - if tour son is playing I hope they have a safe and great year!!

Not a bad move, saves money too as far as camp expenses and paying the the dining hall.

I haven't heard anything, but I have had a very busy week at work. :)

While at Texas Wesleyan in Fort Worth, we hated "TCU" purple; Texas Wesleyan was so overshadowed by TCU.  For the last 20 years Purple & Gold have been our favorites and the mainstay of our wardrobe!  My twin brother lives in Abilene, so HSU, even more so, is our main rival.  Looks like this year's game may be a repeat of the last three!  We will miss it for the first time ever, since we leave on a cruise that morning; we'll be getting text mail updates!

UMHB update on yesterday's first practice in pads.

"Down" ;) to 180 in camp after first five days, plus five more expected when classes start next week.

Guess some of those tackling dummies referred to earlier couldn't take it.  ;)

The pads are poppin' in Pineville. LC is looking to make some noise this year! 160 players reported last week. A few have since departed, but my son reports that morale is running high. The Cats will scrimmage on Saturday.
