Hawks88,

What's your pleasure? There's some decent BBQ places in Alexandria/Pineville and, of course, sea food and catfish places. If your into crawfish, they are out of season. Let me know what your interests are and I will try and steer you in the right direction.

I would most likely do seafood but could go BBQ depending on the mood, though the seafood place would need to have decent chicken or burgers for my wife who doesn't like seafood.

question

I see TLU has got some good coaches this year.

I was wandering if the former OU RB with McMurry is hurt, he was not in last weeks game.

The coaching has really improved throughout the entire conference.  All the schools have got good assistants also.

UMHB will be hard to beat with running the ball and good d.  THat can shut down the passing teams with that formula.  Like they always do.

Hawks88,

Below are some restaurants fairly close to the field - 5 to 10 minutes away. If you have a GPS, the address should be all you need. If you don't have a GPS let me know and I will give you directions. The first one on the list, Fant's, might be a little tricky, but I think I can get you there.

Fants Seafood Restaurant
6300 Highway 71 N
Pineville, LA 71360
318-640-6699
Offers a full menu and will have something for your wife. It is little hole-in-the-wall place, but nice and clean. Great food.

Smackin' Mack's
3800-P Monroe Hwy
Pineville, LA 71360
(318) 640-0003
Besides catfish, etc... also offers burgers and chicken strips. Great seafood.

Paradise Catfish Kitchen
4820 Monroe Hwy, Pineville, LA
Tel: (318) 640-5032
I think Paradise has other than fish. They have an all-you-can-eat catfish dinner and that is all I have ever ordered. Like Fant's, it is not fancy, but great catfish.

Outlaws BBQ
359 Kings Country Rd
Pineville, LA 71360
(318) 640-4757
Decent BBQ. Of course I am originally from Central Texas and, in my mind, nothing beats the BBQ I get when I am in the Austin area - and to my UMHB friends, that includes Schoepf's in Belton.

You can't go wrong with any of these. Fant's is further away from the field than the other three and a little more difficult to get to. The other three are actually near one another and are either on, or right off, the Monroe Hwy which La. Hwy 165.

If you need directions, let me know and I will see what I can do.

Kelly,
The TS Hermine really did a number on Belton and Salado.  Central Avenue was under water.  The cover story for the telegram has a man on a jet ski riding down Central toward I35.  Schoepf's was flooded.  In Salado the creek flooded 4-5 ft above the 100 year flood mark.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Toby,

I heard that the flooding was bad. I saw a picture of the AOG church in Belton, just off I35 (west side), and it looked like it had about 4 feet of water in it. Amazing.

Thanks for the suggestions, Kelly! Sounds like some good choices. I should be able to find the ones near the stadium without much problem.

I will be more than happy to e-mail the scanned document to those who are interested. I was notified the jpeg file is not able to be viewed on my last post. Sorry.
