95 in Pineville, 101 heat index. Good thing it's a night game.

Redlands 21, ETBU 10.

ETBU failed to score on its first 3 trips deep into Redlands territory.

3rd and 2 at the Redlands 16, can't score on 2 downs.
Block a Redlands punt and move to the Redlands 24 and fumble.
3rd and 6 from the Redlands 7 and throw an INT.

On the last possession of the first half, ETBU has a 1st and 10 at the 20 and settles for a 35yd FG.

Halftime Redlands 6, ETBU 3.

In the second half, depsite 3-4 stoppages of play as Redlands players cramp up in the midday heat, Redlands continues to execute.  Redlands QB Selway is hurt and backup QB Herrera Chad Hurst never drops a beat and continues the TD to make it 21-3.

ETBU pulls Harris at QB and puts in Hubbard.  Too little, too late.

Final UR 21, ETBU 10.

Gotta "unmodify" my post.  The backup Redlands QB was #12 Chad Hurst.  The stat sheet incorrectly attributes the stats to Herrera (#16).

ETBU had every opportunity in the world to move to 2-0.  I heard through the grapevine that they were concerned that their kicker was not 100% and that is why they didn't attempt field goals on those early drives that stalled.  Also heard through the grapevine that #3 is not 100% yet either.

I thought that the downfall of ETBU was the punt that got over the head of the returner early in the fourth.  Defense had just forced a nice 3 and out with Redlands pinned deep in their own end.  If ETBU was able to get something out of that return then they had a nice chance.  However, when it got over his head you could just see all the wind get sucked out of the ETBU players.

No matter, ETBU is playing much better as a team and has a good chance to make some noise in the conference race if they can put it all together.

if you have a good internet connection the video from hsu is pretty good.  you have to open 2 windows to get the radio feed, but the video and audio synch up well
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Hardin Simmons 31 Willamette 22

Congrats to the Cowboys. Offense executed well. Defense did an exceptional job. Willamette is a great competitor. Williamettes's Shotgun had an impressive 8 receptions for 222 yds.

Great way to start conference play!

What in the world? Amazing! I tip my hat to McMurry. Looks like they will definitely turn some heads this season. Great job!!!

Wildcat11,

Looks like the barn burning happened on your end. "on any given day" I guess! Great win cowboys. D played incredible and the O always had an answer! Congrats to McMurry on their basketball score win today.

A wild one at Wildcat Feild in Pineville. LC & Huntingdton ended regulation tied 56-56. LC failed to score in overtime and the Hawks scored in three plays winning the game 62-56. Not much D by either team. Lot's of offensive fire power on both teams.  Huntingdton has a lot of weapons and are the real deal offensively.  If LC's defense does not improve it could be a rough conference campaign.

Congrats to HSU and my alma mater UMHB on big wins Saturday.

Although I only caught the second half, I thought Hardin Simmons v. Willamette looked like it should be a late November match up in the making. I was really impressed with the way both schools refused to quit, and should HSC continue to get better (i.e. limit the big plays) they are going to be scary good.

I was also impressed with Willamette and props to them for a game they never let go of - tough to the end and it made for fantastic viewing.

if hsu makes it through the next 2 weeks unscathed you might just see them in late november.  They have the conference co-champs from last year over the next 2 weeks so they will either be in it with a good chance or out of it by october.

No doubt.  But I knew CalLu was going to be a much different and more talented team this season.  We blew our chance to put them away in the 1st half and it bit us on the backside.   The Kingsmen are legit.  The 'Cats will live to fight another day.

Congrats on the win over WU.  That is a heck of a ball club you guys beat and holding them to 22 is something to be proud off.  Top shelf victory for the 'Boys.

McM game could have been so much worse, clock ran the whole second half, only stopped for time outs, even after touchdowns it ran, so about 2 minutes would go off between td and kickoff.
