LC is idle this week and hopefully doing something to shore up what has been a very porous defense. I will be tuning into the UMHB game via the Internet, while also paying attention to the MC vs HSU match up. Some conference questions should be answered on Saturday.

I agree with you Crufootball, it would be nice to have a formation where LB could pass with efficiency.  Sure would keep the defense from loading the box on every play and add an extra dimension.  With that said, I do love the commitment that our coaching staff has made to get back to our strength and run the ball.  Balance in the passing game will open up the run.  I wish I could be in Abilene as well, should be two exciting games in the same day.  I guess I will have to listen via internet, not the same, but I am grateful.  To all who are traveling be safe, enjoy, and may the Cru play great football.  Somebody please eat some BBQ for me!

Just saw that HSU plays at 1 pm, wonder if my wife would sit through two games in one day--I don't think so!!!
She might not want to see two games, but what about shopping or hanging out with the in-laws?   ;D
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I'm hooked after last week's great Hardin-Simmons game. Anything I should know about the upcoming game with Miss College? I will be watching, and enjoying what is hopefully a great game, while packing up my house and getting ready to move. Good luck to both teams and stay healthy!
A fan of good football - wherever it may be found.

You can also view the game from the McMurray web site for $5 I think. I KNOW the video is there, I believe the price is $5.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

$5.00 buys 2 Gallons of gas.  At 30 mpg that is 60 miles.  210 miles one-way Belton to Abilene, 420 miles round trip, 14 gallons.  $35.00 for gas. Looks like a bargain to me.

When your wife asks you about the $5 charge on your credit card, just tell her that you were saving her some money.   ;)   :D

Yeah, we had that discussion. BTW, HSU looking dominant against MC today. Course, they aren't playing #13 this week.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Impressive win by HSU - congrats to the Cowboys. UMHB needs to take care of business this evening to set up an undefeated showdown in Belton next week. Go CRU!

McMurry put a scare in UMHB in a wild battle. Mumme has the real deal and will reek some havoc in the conference this season - the defense appears to be vastly improved. It looks like it is going to be a very interesting and entertaining season in the ASC.

HSU vs UMHB, another season and another big game. I will be in Clinton rooting on LC against Miss. College next week but keeping my eye on the big game in Belton.

To be down 22-0 and then score 25 straight points to take the lead and the finally lose the game by a margin of a recovered fumble for a TD, a safety, a kickoff return and then an INT for a TD is exasperating.

The good side that I see from this is that we held Daniels and Bailey to "below average" production

Quote
Rushing              No Gain Loss  Net TD Lg  Avg
-------------------------------------------------
Quincy Daniels       27  109   10   99  1 18  3.7
LiDarral Bailey      17  106   21   85  1 39  5.0

and we had this performance in only the 13th game of the new system.

We catch HSU in the 18th game of the new system. That game might be for a share of the conference lead.

Hey Ralph,
As I predicted it was a close game and having watched it i'd say for the reasons i expected. 1) McM is that much improved.  The oline was better, Mullin is amazing and the receivers can flat out fly.  2 of the TDs were Jake throwing over everybody and the receiver turning it on to make the play well behind the defender.  2) its early in the season with young dbs that were there for the exploiting. UMHB always seems to start the season slow so this really made McM a tough match up.

I wouldn't read too much into the defense holding Bailey and Daniels, since Bailey was no threat to pass (he threw some ugly passes last night) they pretty well stacked the line and swarmed to the ball.  The UMHB penalties helped too.

Where McM is going to to have problems with HSU is on the Oline.  The Oline did a good job protecting Jake, but for the most part UMHB was rushing 4 and trying to figure out some way of stopping the pass.  Even rushing 4 Jake was running for his life part of the time.  HSUs DBs will be better than UMHBs dbs played tonight and so HSU will have a little more beef to bring.

The other thing that could derail McM is an injury to Mullin.  His speed, ability to see the field and escape pressure, much like Justing feaster, Make that offense work.

Thanks, Toby. Good observations/insight. My take was from listening to game. No substitute for bring present.
