Watched the MCM game and they looked terrible. Absolutely no running game and the running back for MCM too small, can't block, and can"t run, give me a break. If someone else was in there Mullins wouldn"t have to scramble half the time because the running back would block for him, but not when your 5'6 160 punds. Coach Mumme should hopefully see this and make some adjustment.
McM came into the restaurant and said the players he talked to said the team didn't mentally show up.  very disappointing.  Going to have to get the headson straight if they want to be at the top.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

question

what happened to the RB from Oklahoma that plays at McM?

btyndall

the running back i heard is on suspension,  but they have another freshman that used to be a good running back from arlington, but they are using him at free safety behind will.

Open mouth, Insert foot!!!  Oh well thats how it goes and has gone for a long time.

I was completely dissappointed when I saw at halftime players for HSU WALKING off the field.  We would have had our @$$ chewed and handed to us for that when I played.  Heads were down and HSU was defeated in the first half.  With attitudes like that Keeling can ask you to play hard 21 points up or down, but it will never happen.  That is not the Cowboy football that has been played in the past.  And I understand hats off to the past and sleeves up to the future, but sometimes you need to remember the past so the samething doesnt happen again.  I have nothing but the highest respect for the coaching staff at HSU but these players gotta get this straight. Coaches can't play and players can't coach.  come on guys, time to get to work.  Style points count now.

minni,  I thought HSU played pretty hard until the last few minutes of the game.  They fought their way back into the game when I thought UMHB had it completely under control in the 2nd half.  It was a very good game by 2 very good teams.  Special teams and turnovers are what did HSU in.

ETBU and McMurry was a great defensive ball game!  Both defenses were flying around.  ETBU held McMurry to under 300 yards of offense and really only 2 TD drives.  The TD right before the half was more on the ETBU offense than the ETBU defense.  What a great response by the ETBU offense late in the 4th quarter.  Held a lead the entire game only to have it taken with 5+ minutes left.  Instead of folding they came thru in the crunch with a well executed 2 min drill to get the W.
Thanks for the info.  Defensive battles are always fun to watch for me.  What worked for the ETBU defense

It was just one of the best overall performances from the ETBU defenses in a long time.  The secondary did an outstanding job of covering the McMurry receivers, probably 4-5 of the 9 sacks can be attributed to Mullins just having no where to go with the football.  The defense also did a great job of A) putting McMurry in unsuitable situations early in the series (lots of 2 and more than 10) which resulted in B) McMurry going 4-19 on 3rd down.  When it looked like a McMurry receiver would have a step or two on a DB, the DB for ETBU would close extremely well and make a great play for the break up.  Folks can say what they want, but ETBU just came to play on defense and it was a great sight to see

That is saying something TxFight, the recievers from McM are fast.  Coach Sartain is a great motivator and coach, should be interesting how the rest of the year goes. 9 sacks means great pressure on the QB.  Reminds me that every game is huge in the ASC this year!

It was impressive that is for sure!  Another great thing was how ETBU kept fighting.  After McMurry scored to go up 21-20 with about 5 min left and then the offense had a 3 and out, it would have been very easy for them to shut it down and say well it just wasn't meant to be.  Instead the defense stepped up and got the huge stop and the offense responded with a nice 55ish yard 2 minute drill to get the W.  ETBU looked like a team refusing to lose.

UMHB2001,

No ONE including me called you a liar. The statement was "I don't believe those flowers came from HSU (meaning the program etc). They could have easily come from an HSU supporter i suppose although not very smart in my opinion since a similar incident occured on the HSU side the year we thumped you in the season game (04) only to lose in the 1st round of the playoffs. Maybe you should get with your cousins wifes coaches principal whatever and whoever you heard it from and calm down. If i wanted to call you a liar i would have. I'm saying that NO ONE closely related to the game (player coaches Etc) were responsible for that. My deepest apologies to you and your wife who saw a picture that a coach at BHMU sent to his wife that a principal showed to 30 students who drew pictures that came home in daily assignments. Maybe you need an alternative hobby to help you relax.

Stay thirsty my friends. See you on Nov 20th for the rematch.

I seriously doubt that ANYONE from HSU sent flowers with that implied note. That is not in the character of this program or of its fan base. If however it was used as MOTIVATION to play hard seems as though that work. Great game by the CRU. Well deserved win.

Who said anything about motivation Cowboy? The game itself is motivation, isn't it. And yeah, you're right, I made the whole thing up. I made up the fact that a coach on the team sent a text message with a picture of the flowers to his wife who teaches at the school in Temple my brother is a principal at. I made all of it up. You don't even know me and you're calling me a liar? That's low yobwoC, come on. Why would I lie about that. Please!

Long time since I've posted or read anything on here.  It brings back fun memories.  With coaching on Friday nights and working Saturday's I've not seen a UMHB game in a long time.  Can someone who has seen a game tell me how they look this year?  It's one thing to read stats and another to see how the oline/dlines are playing and how the skill kids look in person.
If it's not about winning and losing then why keep score?

He's not on suspension, I can't go into more detail than that, but he's definitely not on suspension. And, there is not a backup safety being considered at running back.

The Howard Payne vs. McMurry game becomes an interesting one this Saturday for both teams involved. The teams have split the last six matchups, but Howard Payne has taken the last two games in Abilene.

Good breakdowns and fair assessments - good luck to ETBU, what a roller coaster season you guys have had! And just for the record, we don't like defensive struggles, unless the opponents' defense is struggling  :)

Well if it was anyone connected to HSU (player, coach, fan, etc.) it was not smart at all however I think it was genius if it was someone from UMHB because it worked like a charm  ;)

News out of Belton today is that as of right now, Kyle Noack will be the starting QB for the Cru unless something changes.

Might want to look at moving a DB to RB.  Worked pretty well when UMHB moved Tucker to RB.   ;D

btyndall

Sid - I didn't say they were considering him as a running back, but thats what I heard he was in Arlington. As for the running back, not on suspension, but not playing. I heard other things also which I won't get into, but I wish they would play him, the running back from Oklahoma.

Yo Crualum55 I talked to Joe tonight and he said the guys really responded well this week. He said there is def room for improvement but HSU had no answer for the pounding our Oline was giving them. He finally has some tackles that arent vertically challenged ;). Take it easy Bro
