I'm not sure that LC gets past McM.  Do the wildcats have a legitimate shot at beating either McM or HSU? The margins of victory against common opponents and past experience seems to suggest that it will be a good football game but LC is not going to see a victory. I personally hope the NCAA splits the ever popular ASC first round and gives both teams representing the conference a shot at different regions. What is the likelyhood that the NCAA would send HSU, LC, McM (insert team of your choice) with a pool C to another region for the playoffs?

About as likely as HSU and UMHB fans agreeing on.....well just about anything haha  ;)

I think that HSU must run the table to earn a Pool C bid, and even then they may be the 6th and final choice.

The metrics used by the committee, and voted by the NCAA membership, work against the ASC.  No malice assumed, but any statistical program will have its problems and weaknesses.  We don't get to beat up multiple other conferences as they can in the North or the East Regions.

McMurry had to scramble to find non-conference opponents.  ETBU and HSU had great non-conference (and in-region) games.  However, playing a D-II (SRSU versus Western N Mexico) or NAIA's just don't help.  Austin College, Millsaps and Trinity can only take up so much of the slack.

Does LC have a legitimate shot at beating McM or HSU? Just ask UMHB if the Wildcats have a shot? The Wildcat offense has lots of weapons and can put up points. The LC defense has been, and is, the Achilles heal.

I agree Ralph, the final two regular season games for HSU are playoff games. The fact that HSU has a bye week prior to the LC game will make the Cowboys mighty tough, especially if HSU beats McMurry. If that does happen, the Cowboys will be fully loaded and playing for their playoff lives when they arrive in Pineville on Nov. 13.

Given what is at stake for HSU, it should be an exciting atmosphere in Abilene on Saturday.

I believe LC is capable of finishing the season with three wins. However, time will tell whether or not the Cats will actually pull it off.

Comparing scores is rarely helpful, so many things - tangible and intangible - affect the final scores of games. That said, for the sake of discussion, below are scores for HSU/McM and LC verses common opponents.

McM 31 @ home vs UMHB 43 (L)          LC 38  @ home vs UMHB 42 (L)
McM 21  on road vs ETBU 23 (L)           LC 49  on road vs ETBU  21 (W)
McM 51 @ home vs  HPU  19 (W)         LC 62  @home vs HPU    28 (W)
McM 35  on road vs Sul Ross 12 (W)     LC 56  on road vs Sul Ross 46 (W)

HSU 28  on road vs UMHB 42 (L)          LC 38 @ home vs UMHB 42 (L)
HSU 45  @ home vs MC    10 (W)         LC 45 on road vs  MC     42 (W)
HSU 49  @ home vs ETBU  17 (W)        LC 49  on road vs ETBU 21 (W)
HSU 56  on road vs  HPU    0  (W)        LC 62 @ home vs HPU   28 (W)
HSU 73  @ home vs Sul Ross 7 (W)      LC 56 on road vs Sul Ross 46 (W)

Keep giving me negative Karma, it doesnt change the fact that McMurry has not beaten HSU since 1990, and that the Hardin-Simmons Offensive Line Dominates.  Keep working Big Nasty's.  I will be listening to the game on Saturday.

If it's not about winning and losing then why keep score?

When you have 200 posts, the message board software gives you the ability to applaud or smite a poster for something that they have said or posted.  (Your screenview probably does not show those icons at this time.)

The system polices itself over the long haul.

People who seek karma usually get smited.
People who act like the southbound end of a northbound horse will get smited.

People who provide good game reports, insights into the conference race, provide good URLs to newspaper reports and other things that contribute to the joy and reading of the boards will earn an "applaud" which adds one more Karma point.

One can only give one karma every 24 hours.
Several of us veteran posters will welcome new posters to the boards with a Karma point, just to be glad to have them.

Don't worry about it.  If you contribute to the boards, the karma will mount, and vice versa.

+1!   :)

I see, Thanks Ralph.  I think that is a pretty cool feature.  I like your vocabulary choice with smited.

If you want to boost your karma, go over to the OAC board and start talking about how Mount Union should be a DII school. ;)
