Listening to the Hal Mumme show tonight, he said that Steven Warren, the McM 2nd string QB, went down last week with a broken elbow and is out.  In relating the story he said that after warren had broken his elbow, he stayed in the game for another play because Mumme sent him out on 4th down, not really knowing about the injury.  Mumme sent him out with instruction to read the d and either pass or pooch punt.  He read the d and punted the ball inside the 5 then came off the field saying he couldn't feel his hands.  Mumme said he has no idea how he even took the snap.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Having seen both Hardin Simmons and Louisiana College...I'm going to say that Hardin Simmons is going to get the W on the road in Pineville this weekend.  Two very similar teams in that they can score alot of points, and live opportunistically on defense (meaning they might give up a lot of yards but rely on turnovers, key stops in the red zone etc to get off the field.)  I just think the HSU offense is about as complete a unit as you can get tho and will be the difference.  At receiver they have a big time playmaker to go with other solid depth.  At RB they are solid, the O-line was one of the best i've seen this year and they have one of the most complete Qbs in the nation operating the weapons.  Yes, I know, the same can be said for LC, but I just think HSU is the better unit from what i've seen.

HSU is the favorite in this Saturday's game, no doubt about it. The Wildcats will show up and you never know - the oblong ball has a way of bouncing in ways that are very unpredictable. If it bounces LC's way a few times, well then, the Cats just might pull-off an upset.

Long range weather forecast for the HSU vs LC game in Pineville, La: High of 68 with a 40% chance of thunderstorms. The field turf will be a welcome change from the Pineville High School site where the Wildcats used to play if there is any precipitation on Saturday.

Driscoll Medium School Trick Play touchdown

Very nice...usually once a year you see a clip where that play works. I wonder what the QB was saying to freeze/confuse the defense.

Outside the UMHB game, the HSU defense just hasn't surrendered a whole lot.  I might be having a brain fart right now but I am just not remembering them just giving up a whole heck of a lot to anyone.  The offense I see them dropping half a hundred or more and the defense surrendering 28 or less.  HSU off a bye and prepared doing everything they can as "style points" are needed to make a push for a Pool C bid.  Good luck to the Cowboys on Saturday.  I'll be in Belton next Saturday for the first round of the playoffs!!!!

During the Dennis Dunn era the LC vs HSU game has been competitive, with the 2006 game being the exception.
2006 @ Pineville: The game was called due to some aspect of weather
(lightening I think) late in the 2nd quarter with HSU leading 28-12 &
threatening to score & add to its lead.
2007 @ Abilene: the Cowboys prevailed 41-34
2008 @ Pineville: HSU won 36-28
2009 @ Abilene: LC won for the first time in the series 28-7

If the Wildcats are in the game going into the 4th quarter, I give them a good shot at the upset.

HSU is a successful program. The Cowboys have been in big games before and the Pokes know the stakes. The playoffs have already begun for HSU and the Cowboys know it. I hope LC can match the intensity the Cowboys are going to bring to the field on Saturday. If the Cats do, we should have a dandy shoot-out in Pineville.

Mr. Boggs -- HSU and LC actually began the game in 2006. It was suspended with 2:12 left in the 2nd quarter and not simply cancelled. At that point HSU led 28-12 and had the ball deep in LC territory. Perhaps not as "competitive" as in subsequent games. Nonetheless, "that's why they play" and anything could happen this coming weekend.

Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!

Ha ha. Baddog. I was just about to say that about the 2006 game. I was a senior on that team. They could not stop us and were about to score again. I remember watching the film the next day and the line were laughing at how terrible their defense was. Even looking at highlights now from that game we were having our way with their d line. Get your facts straight. As we loaded the bus that night we laughed as the lc fans drove off yelling that they would have won the game. Get your facts straight.  :-*

Baddog,

Mr. Boggs was my dad, Kelly is fine.  :)

I was not present at the 06 game. You will notice I said the game was "called." I did not say the game was canceled. I was using the term that is most often used to describe a baseball game that is interrupted prior to going enough innings to be deemed official. It is simply called and no score recorded. A news report may say, "The game was called with so-and-so leading 6-3." Officially, however, no score is recorded. On the Team pages here at D3football.com neither HSU or LC have a score recorded for the 06 game.

I was not aware of the facts of which I have now been apprised. I will revise my post (and have done so) to reflect more accuracy in every respect.

Updated on Friday morning: Allow me to apologize for the misunderstanding. A different choice of words might have communicated better - "suspended" instead of "called", perhaps. In either case, I was ignorant of any context for the 2006 HSU vs LC game. I hope the record has now been set straight to everyone's satisfaction.
