overall top ranked d in the country.  you will have to throw the ball.  if you can run it, the game will not be much of a game.  no one has run the ball yet against wesley, but no one is as good as the cru.  salisbury with the spread barely went over 100 with most of them in the first quarter.  thomas more is not close to wesley, size or speed.

Thanks for the info. Im just a bit confused after today as I read how good Thomas More's defense was and then we rolled up 500 yards on the ground. I know Wesley will be much better and I expect a close hard fought game next week.

I do think this Cru team poses the greatest threat through the air compared to previous Cru teams?
Anyone know the size of corners from Wesley? Having 6'5" WR's on both sides in DIII is something I would think is an advantage most games. looking at the game notes today Wesley's pass defense was really good.

We ASC fans need the Wesley game to help us assess how strong the conference was.

I saw ETBU (5-5/4-4) blow their game against Redlands (8-1/5-1 SCIAC).  (Respectfully, I thought the ETBU should have won that game!)  ETBU beat UW Eau Claire in Wisconsin (3-7/3-4  WIAC)

LaCollege lost to Huntingdon and NAIA Belhaven early in the season and then put it together.

HSU was beat good Northwest Conference opponents, at Whitworth (5-5/3-3 -- non-conference losses to Redlands and HSU) and Willamette (7-3/4-2).

CRUWORLD

Wow the end of season top six teams are still standing!
Go Cru!

Congrats to UMHB on a dominating performance. I have no doubt that UMHB is highly focused on Wesley and are looking forward to the trip to Delaware. This is the most impressive Cru team that I have seen, they have the ability to attack the entire field on offense. I also was impressed with the size of the offensive and defensive lines. This may be the most physical team we have ever fielded.

Wesley always has a team full of big, fast players and they pose a huge challenge.

I think UMHB will win by 2-3 touchdowns.

Ever get the feeling that the ASC's talent level is greatly under estimated?  12.5 pts?  really?  I'd take that bet.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

i saw something today that I have never seen from a UMHB QB, a 59 yd td pass that went 60 yards in the air, was a perfectly thrown spiral, and hit the receiver in stride over 3 Thomas More defenders.

Can't wait to see that on the plays of the week!!  ;)

I hope someone has the video.  This is the description from the Temple Daily Telegram:
QuoteJunior Damian Davis was the recipient of both scoring tosses. He zipped all the way across the field to turn a short pass into a 30-yard touchdown early in the second quarter, then split double coverage to haul in a picturesque 59-yard spiral for a back-breaking TD as the halftime horn sounded. . . .

"I think it was one of the most spectacular plays I've ever seen from so many people," Fredenburg said. "You had to be skilled to throw that, and you had to be skilled to catch it."

umhbalum, wesley will also pose a threat with their receivers, i believe kraut is 6'4" and stevenson is close to that.  if umhb is having trouble covering the pass as i have read on here earlier in the year, then they may be chasing receivers all day.  this is going to be a real good one.

The pass defense is much improved.  had to get the young fellows some experience.

Looking at UMHB's offense, it sure looks like they love to run.  If they are that one dimensional,  Wesley will have a field day.  This reminds me of Salisbury.  That said, I don't expect the Crusaders to go by a cookie-cutter playbook.  If there is anything I have found out about Wesley opponents it is that they will do just about everything to keep the D off balanced.....

Not much different than every other time the Cru has met Wesley.  UMHB will run the ball.  Stopping their run will mean holding them under 200 yds.  They are one dimensional and have been for as long as I have been a fan of the Cru.  the difference this year is that the passing attack is dangerous and is used as a regular part of the offensive scheme.

As a point of comparison:
2005 - UMHB 73/264
2006 - UMHB 38/115
2007 - UMHB 62/289
2008 - UMHB 59/302

they are what they are

Teamski you are probably right. UMHB will be completely intimidated and will tuck their tails and let Wesley cruise into the Semi's.
8-)

I hope that is the approach WC takes going into the game. UMHB prides themselves on being physical and running the ball. But now they have the ability to make u hurt if you put 8 in the box. Gonna be a battle, always is when these top tier programs get together.

I submit that there is no better passing conference against whom young DB's must learn and perfect their game than the ASC.

HSU's Feaster, LaCollege's McCulloch and McMurry's "Mullin/Warren/Gunter/AirRaid" are among the finest in the country.
