Just want to say that Wesley played a good game and it was another chapter in a good rivalry.

Also wanted to say Congratulations to a UMHB senior class on a successful career. They have carried on a tradition of Mental Toughness and excellence. That is now 9 consecutive years that UMHB has earned.

In light of this story, I would like to thank Eric Drennan for his great work in covering UMHB for the Temple Daily Telegram. Is it really that hard to get the schools name right?

Unacceptable play today. This team should be disgusted and angry. Horrible way to end the season. Congrats Wesley, but we can't expect to win when we play that way. Really frustrating. Just can't win the big game. I know I may get reamed for this post, but just really frustrated. I know the kids are too, but this is just not what this team was capable of.

umhb2001,

My parents told me once to never say anything in anger that I would regret later.  Why can't you be just a little happy to be 12-1 and one of the Great 8 and save posts like this, where you denigrate this exceptional team, to a later date?  The team feels a lot worse than you do I am sure, but, they took time to shake hands and pray with the opposing team after the game.  I get so tired of that cliche "can't win the big one."  Reminds me of what everyone said about Tom Landry until he had his consecutive runs to the Super Bowl.  Save your frustration to a time where you can cool off. I think the team is handling this in a much more mature fashion than you are.

I for one am exceptionally proud of the Cru's efforts to get to this game and the determination they showed while playing it!  Congratulations to the team, coaches and staff for another great season!!!

I think it's ok to be frustrated. I think they too would say tatthey didn't playbto what they are capable of. I agree, we had a great season, but like Her Edwards said, you play towin the game. I know they played hard, I know they are upset, more so than I am, and I'll be the first one to root them on next season, but I still thank it's ok to be frustrated. Are you saying you've never once been frustrated? I love the guys and want them to keep their heads high and come back strong.

Thanks for calling me immature though, cause that's a little harsh. Sorry i offended you, but again, I think it's ok to be frustrated.

umhb2001,

Yes, I have been frustrated.  In 1978, I was defensive coordinator for a team that was making its second straight appearance in the high school state championships.  I still feel we had a better team than we had the year before when we won state, but this time we lost 42-21.  The other team had a pretty good running back named Eric Dickerson.

Sometimes you do not play your best game for reasons no one can understand.  Sometimes your opponent has something to do with that.

It was not really what you said in your post as much as it was the timing.  Mack Brown, who I think is a wonderful coach, lost control of his season, his team, and maybe his staff when he angrily responded right after the Iowa State loss and threw his team and coaches under the bus by saying he could not trust them!  That might have been the way he felt but it should not have been said while he was frustrated and it should not have been said right after the game.  Your post fell along those same lines.

True maturity is knowing when to say what you are thinking and when to bite your tongue.  This is the time of year especially to just be happy for your blessings and forgive all transgressions.

You did not offend me personally and we all have the right to our opinions!  Perhaps next time just give yourself 24 hours before you post and think about what you are saying.
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

Anyone know when the All-Region team is announced? I know it is coming up...just checking

crufootball

Last year they announced it on Thursday of the week of the Semi's so they probably will again around the same time this year.

Hoping to go a day sooner this year but the nominations tend to drag out beyond the published deadline, pushing back voting. We don't want to leave out any reasonable candidates and even though we gave people 12 days to nominate, some still wanted extra time.

roocru and umhb 2001 -- I concur with roocru and, please, allow me to add one other thing. It is easy for any of us fans of winning programs to -- unintentionally and subconsciously -- develop a sense of entitlement. That renders losing even more difficult than it might already be.
Let's be thankful for the wins -- and pat our teams on their backs for the great effort.
When they lose -- pat them on the back for their sacrifices and to console them. My guess is that they are hurting more than we. (And they know better than we do how hard they played -- or did not -- and what mistakes they may have made. No need to rub salt in the wound or your own team.)
Best wishes to all for a Merry Christmas and a Happy Next (Football) Year!

Roo, in September and October of 2005, you made two posts that others took to be "cheap shots" and one that was basically saying the same things I said about UMHB, just in different words. While I do understand holding one's tongue and watching our words and tone, I am still not sure as to why the timing of what I said was bad. At any point, after the game, things were going to be said. Being frustrated then or now does not change my opinions and feelings. I love the CRU. I bleed purple when it comes to Cru game days. I feel that my sense of pride in my team has made it seem as though I feel entitled as some have said. I feel no entitlement, but do have high expectations. When a freshman player comes in, perhaps a great player on their HS team, do they have entitlement to their position? No, they have to prove it, but with that proving comes some accountability and expectations. It's not good enough to do what you have always done, you have to do more. That is all I am saying. UMHB is a solid program that did not play to its full potential. That was all I was saying. If that makes me immature, well then, I guess there are a lot of immature people who get frustrated over multiple things in life. Therefore, that is why I press on towards the upward call of Christ, taking up my cross and following Him daily, that I may leave behind this mortal shell, and wear the crown of life when I reach perfection on that glorious day when we meet our maker.

See ya next fall.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!
