"As for the rest of the conference, each team is going to have some big question marks heading into the season.  Has the rest of the conference closed the gap on UMHB and HSU or was this year just a fluke?  I'm inclined to say that the middle echelon of the ASC (LC, MC, ETBU, McMurry) are all on the brink of breaking the stranglehold at the top."  Quote by TxFight

I've enjoyed reading your analysis...and I tend to agree with your comment above.  That is good...for then the ASC can compete against other conferences at all levels...and it makes the conference champion a better team in the playoffs.  (We need more teams in the South = more playoff games there too!

I think HSU has some good players returning, but many are leaving.  Plus, the Cowboys have a new coach, although he has been there a while...assisting and recruiting...hopefully the change will be minimal.  IMHO, however, HSU will miss Coach Keeling...the coaches, players, fans...all loved and respected him!

I had heard rumor of Coach Alan Wartes was leaving as well.

My vote is for War Horses.

Funniest one is the Mastodons.  I'd go Sentinels, though Circuit Riders would probably be the most memorable.  War Hawks would make me think of some other Division III team. :)

Thanks!  The latest news is as follows.  The baby was technically due on the 14th.  After a doctor visit this past Wednesday, the decision looks like waiting for things to happen normally until next Wednesday.  If nothing happens by then they will probably induce at that time.

This is worse than waiting for the Stagg Bowl to begin with your team playing but no one will tell you when the game will start!  ;D

Have no fear.  This proud first time grandfather will let all know when the day arrives!  ;) :D
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

Glad the story got noticed. I thought Ben was a great kid and I enjoyed interviewing him and telling his story for the Town Talk.

My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

RALPH!! You got some 'splaining to do!
Actually, the press release is quite detailed in the explanation.
It is, but it seemed like a great opportunity to utilize my inner Ricky Ricardo.  I can't say i'm surprised.  I had heard grumblings, but how do you feel about it?

Congratulations to Koby Parker, HSU Junior...named on the Associated Press First Team Little All-American!  (Offensive lineman)

Wow...that IS news about McMurry...

Will anyone tell us which other D-II schools there are "in the area"...and what is the likely conference?

Is this a move "up" or "down"...the article says "down from Division III to Division II."  ???
