I'd also like to apologize for my last screen name in 2007 Tlu_G.o.a.t. I was just reading all of those past posts..and lol, boy was I piece of work...I logged in to find some well-deserved PMs telling me about myself lol....but, just in case the UMHB guys were wondering..I never enrolled at TLU. I got a late offer from a D2 school that summer, and I graduated with my bachelor's degree the following summer. So all of those posts were me, but I'm definitely alot more humble now.  :)

Sorry guys.

Wow was that really in 07 TLU Goat, time has flown by since then. Congrats on graduating and good luck in whatever you are doing.

TXGuru, welcome back and congrats on the degree.

CRUKID:  Oddly the word I used, curple, is an actual word that rhymes with purple.  Google "What rhymes with purple" and two words can be found.  Curple is a Scottish word referring to the "hind quarters" of a horse
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Sorry, but I gotta do it.

I sought a rhyme to go with purples,
Found in between the horse's curples.

Go Purples!   :D   ;)    ;D   ::)

txguru,

Obvious to see that you are A LOT more humble these days.. You're screen name even seems to imply that! In any event i agree about Salinas. And welcome back to the boards. Humble or not you're always welcome. You're certainly not the only person on this board who might struggle from time to time with that problem.

Go Cowboys!

Justin Chacon, Chapin: The moment Chacon walked on the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor campus, he knew where he belonged. The Chapin senior made his choice official by signing with the Crusaders.
"It was just beautiful out there," Chacon said. "And they have a physical therapy major which is what I want to do."
The linebacker, who had 180 tackles and six sacks in 2010, said he also enjoyed the winning tradition. UMHB has earned eight NCAA Division III Football Championship berths since 2001.
"It may be Division III, but everyone treats it like Division I," Chacon said. "They expect to win." Chacon will likely play linebacker or defensive end in college.

Sounds like a good player to continue our history of great LB's!  Can't wait to see him play.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Matt Mumme leaves OC job at McM for D1 Davidson. Who takes over the Air Raid offense?

Ralph,

WOW..... Disciple? Master? Not sure anyone is going to touch that! I'm not even entirely sure what you are talking about at this point? Looks like the lack of Football is affecting your brain. CAREFUL!

I think he's talking about the fact that in 2008 McMurry averaged 13.0 pts a game. In 2010 they averaged 37.9. Forget about all the difficulties involved in recruiting kids to play at McMurry for a second, and forget about the difficulty of coaching a team comprised mostly of underclassmen. He almost tripled offensive output in two seasons. They are scoring on average three more td's and an extra field goal per game. That's very impressive, and whoever gets that job will be in excellent position to succeed.

I'd be willing to bet the House that McMurry has more offensive production than Hardin Simmons this season, and when that happens, I'm sure you'll wish that you had a guru...

Specifically lower case "d" and lower case "m"... :)

Coach Mumme is nationally known for his contributions.

We had the same thing in Texas when Emory Bellard developed the Wishbone.  Coach Bellard had numerous people take the Wishbone Triple Option and develop the nuances of the Triple Option.

As coaches have evaluated the "Air Raid", there have been numerous off-shoots to the offense.  Coach Mumme studied BYU LaVell Edwards in developing the "Air Raid".  Coach Mumme definitely has earned his place in history.

So hardin simmons has had their offense ranked in the top 10 for almost its whole existence and your saying that we will wish we had a guru.....come on kid.     Lets use some common sense...

crufootball

But didn't HSU lose their guru too?

CruGuy

I'm not really sure what top ten rankings have to do with anything; I was implying that Hardin Simmons' offense will take a few steps backwards next year, while McMurry's will continue to develop (I don't know about the entirety of their existence but the NCAA website has official stats archives for 2008 & 2009. In 2009 Hardin Simmons had the 70th ranked offense in yardage and 104th in points. In 2008 they were 18th in points).

However, most of my comments were a response to cowboyfan's implication that Ralph was going off the deep end. I tend to agree with Ralph that McMurry has a very special coach, and the production on the feild clearly backs that up. When you talk about his offensive acumen, there are probably few words that would accurately describe his ability. Since the thread had some sort of quasi-religious tone I responded as such. I'm not saying that Hardin Simmons lacks quality coaching, what I'm saying is that in a few years we'll probably all be jealous of the McMurry offense, and we should probably be glad that they're leaving the conference.
