What can be said is that this will be an extremely competitive conference and there will be some team that stumbles and gets surprised......well, more than one team ....gonna be fun and can't wait

Well said. Have any predictions?

Congratulations to Coach Matt Garnet, Coach Kemp, and the men of McMurry!  What an effort over a three day run.  It takes a lot of people stepping up to meet the challange of three good teams during seventy two hours.  It takes heart and pride (lots of it) to push your way to victory.  That is especially true aganist a well coached and tough UMHB squad.

Time to look ahead.  McMurry will find out Monday late where we will go.  Enjoy today and prepare Monday for what lies ahead.

ALACUMBA!!!

How do you figure HSU? They are down pretty bad. I mean I give them credit for being a consistent winning program but the massive coaching changes and the loss of their 6th year senior QB. Dominant WR and best defensive threat all at once?

the former OC at HSU would never have left, especially after 21 yrs, if EVERYTHING was great.......the man saw something!

I coud be wrong but I would imagine the thing he saw was him not getting the head coaching job.

I agree with that, I don't think the cupboard is bare at HSU. If we're making predictions in February, I guess I've got to stick where I've already drawn my line in the sand.

1.UMHB
2.HSU
3.McMurry
4.MC
5.TLU
6.ETBU
7.LC
8.HPU
9.Sul Ross

I see a great amount of parity from 3-7. Any of those teams could beat any of the others on any given Saturday. It should be a great season. Only six more months...

The only thing better on this board than the lack of football knowledge is the lack of life experience you guys have. In your church offices all day long posting on D3 Football. Wartes Coached for 21 years with Coach Keeling. They have a close friendship/relationship. These guys were in the football business together. Wartes wanted Keeling to have his shine so to speak and retire from the program he built. Several weeks later Wartes quietly wallked away too. Says more about his character than any of you have recogonized. More to life than winning and losing. HSU is losing two great role models in Keeling and Wartes. But the football program itself will rebound and be as competitive as always. Hide and Watch!

tigerkat

Right......please add a little more sugar to that.....hmmmmm, i do believe that he left after the announcement of the new HC.....but if that makes you feel better so be it....btw, i have forgotten more about FB than you think you know!

ok tigerkat and cowboyfan lets not fight. At the end when mcm wins it all with so many returning offensive players and a defense that led everything and almost all returning how can I not be wrong with mcm on top?

peaster68

UMHB & HSU don't rebuild, they reload. There is a reason they have dominated the ASC. As for the other schools, every once in a while you willl have a school sneak in and win a share of the title. IMO, outside of UMHB or HSU its hard for any other team to win it outright because any team can beat each other on any given Saturday. I am disappointed to see McMurray go. I think that they would have made some noise in the next few years, but they will do fine in D2. It's only February, so who knows? Maybe a school will have a year like ETBU did in 2003 or like MC in 2009.

Tigerkat Im going to have to side with cowboyfan on the HC and OC jobs. I mean I cant knock the program in any way other than seeing them have a slightly down year (4th place at the lowest) but as ive said. I do see them closer to 4th than 1st.
