In my opinion, its got to be the location.

It likely is, as far as go athletics. However, more importantly, accept that that part of semi-isolated Texas needs a low-tuition (relatively speaking) state institution.

Alpine is a beautiful town.  It is just so isolated.

Alpine is a beautiful town. 

As are many Texas locations west of San Antonio. Stark, often rocky and hilly, but beautiful nonetheless (though it often takes a native Texan to recognize this).

Truth be told, other than the lack of beauties with a hair color other than black, and piss poor athletics, Sul Ross would have been my school of choice. Instead I chose a whole different breed of poor and black headed beauties.

ETBU HC announced the hiring of a new DC late last evening. Waiting on 100% official word, but I believe it to be Randy Pippin. We are very excited to have such a great coach with extensive experience join our staff.

haha, I do admire the confidence.
However I think, at worst, we will be kicking another game winner from 20 instead of 19.

That being said, I do look forward to the game. I think ETBU and McM will be the spoilers this season.

I'm all for confidence btyndall but ETBU did not get lucky against MCM.  They had a great defensive gameplan and executed it to perfection.  Remember now that 1 TD came right before half...on a fake fg...after one of ETBUs QBs sat the ball on the ground when he was running around with like a min left.  Your last TD Jake appeared to be throwing it up and hoping for a miracle...and it came true.  If anything McM was lucky that it was that close to begin with, ETBU had a TD pass miss by about an inch on the first drive and didn't get any points out of it.  ETBU also had a FG blocked. 

I will say this though, ETBU has a BRUTAL road schedule this year. @ Wesley, @ McMurry, @ Louisiana College, @ Mary Hardin Baylor and @ Sul Ross State (brutal being its a 14 hr bus ride).  Find me another team in the country with that road schedule and I might give you $20 bucks.  Seriously thats just brutal.  And of all 5 of those, McMurry could easily be their toughest to win simply because of how ticked off McMurry is going to be going into that game.

Does UMHB road schedule earn me the $20 when they played @UW-La Crosse, @ McMurry, @LC, @ Southern Oregon, @ ETBU, @Sul Ross and even though they weren't on only regular season schedule @Wesley? Especially when you consider that all of those teams were giving us their best game since we were Top 5 team in the country?

ETBU 27.. I like the confidence you are showing in your squad.  Y'all did play UMHB close last year but HSU beat you handily.  There could have been some factors into UMHB being down.  Long road trip, not very fired up to play..Excuses I know y'all played a heck of a game.  What may I ask gives you confidence that y'all will go from middle of the league to the top this year?
