hey etbu-you got lucky last year in your win over mcm, but it won't happen this year. ALL THE WAY MCM.

I'm all for confidence btyndall but ETBU did not get lucky against MCM.  They had a great defensive gameplan and executed it to perfection.  Remember now that 1 TD came right before half...on a fake fg...after one of ETBUs QBs sat the ball on the ground when he was running around with like a min left.  Your last TD Jake appeared to be throwing it up and hoping for a miracle...and it came true.  If anything McM was lucky that it was that close to begin with, ETBU had a TD pass miss by about an inch on the first drive and didn't get any points out of it.  ETBU also had a FG blocked.

I will say this though, ETBU has a BRUTAL road schedule this year. @ Wesley, @ McMurry, @ Louisiana College, @ Mary Hardin Baylor and @ Sul Ross State (brutal being its a 14 hr bus ride).  Find me another team in the country with that road schedule and I might give you $20 bucks.  Seriously thats just brutal.  And of all 5 of those, McMurry could easily be their toughest to win simply because of how ticked off McMurry is going to be going into that game.

Does UMHB road schedule earn me the $20 when they played @UW-La Crosse, @ McMurry, @LC, @ Southern Oregon, @ ETBU, @Sul Ross and even though they weren't on only regular season schedule @Wesley? Especially when you consider that all of those teams were giving us their best game since we were Top 5 team in the country?

nice try crufootball...BUT i think @ Wesley (40-2 on their field) trumps @ UW-LaCrosse.  Not saying the UW-LaCrosse isnt tough (cuz ETBU played there as well) but @ Wesley is that much tougher, as the Cru know and ETBU is fixing to get their chance at.

Yes but UMHB played UW-La Crosse and Wesley and 5 other road opponents last year so I think their road schedule can stand on pretty even ground with ETBU.

ETBU 27.. I like the confidence you are showing in your squad.  Y'all did play UMHB close last year but HSU beat you handily.  There could have been some factors into UMHB being down.  Long road trip, not very fired up to play..Excuses I know y'all played a heck of a game.  What may I ask gives you confidence that y'all will go from middle of the league to the top this year?

Im confident because of the amount of returners we have and the fact that we really had a decent year statistically minus the 2 games that we got intimidated. 10 starters on offense coming back. (only loss being one OL) Texas Lutheran was a pathetic game but we lost by 3 without our all-conference kicker. (4th and 4 from the 17? with under 3 in game.)

And to the other topic, UMHB as a 5-5 team we handled UWL. Idk if you can say that that was a rough trip for you. Far from brutal. Also While Sul Ross is still a far trip, id be willing to say that yall are one of the closest games to them.  While Wesley is a very rough one, (and ssince you are comparing this year for yall and next for us the fact that it was a playoff game at the END of the season is pretty beneficial. (game films, confidence, something to play for  ect.) A season opener there as a team that hasnt had a winning season in quite some time....I feel thats rougher for us.

Crufootball, no doubt if we were adding your road playoff date it trumps ETBU...but im talking about looking at a schedule before the season ever starts, ETBU's road schedule trumps UMHB's from last year. ETBU has a national-semi-finalists (12-1), a national-quarterfinalist (12-1), 6-4 team returning a large portions of their starters in McMurry, a 7-3 team in LC who only graduated 4-5 starters (very good ones though), and Sul Ross (1-8).  UMHB had 5-5 UW-LaCrosse, 4-6 McMurry, 7-3 LC, 2-7 Southern Oregon, 3-7 ETBU and 2-8 Sul Ross.  By pure wins and losses alone ETBU's schedule is 38-17.  UMHB's was 23-36.  Thats almost an average of 8-3 for ETBU's opponents and 4-6 for UMHB.  Need I continue?

I think you might need to continue to win me over TxFight  because I was comparing ETBU future schedule (which could go in any direction) with the one UMHB actually played last year and I include Wesley in my argument.

I am not saying ETBU schedule doesn't look hard it does..... but you would have to admit that the schedule UMHB played was tough too other than the fact that we can't play ourselves in a game.

UW-LaCrosse - No they didn't have a great record but the WIAC is the toughest conference in D3 and required us to get on a plane to play our first game of the year against a team they had already played a game.

McMurry - They gave us everything they had and had some tough loses and still finished they year at 6-4.

LC - Another game we pulled out at the end and we had to play the team before they lost those very good seniors you mentioned.

Southern Oregon - Like La Croose they didn't have a good record but we had to get on a plane again and play against a NAIA program that was good enough that they beat us in 2008.

ETBU - Guess I don't need to explain them to you but if they are half as good as you say they are this year they must have been getting there last year haha.

Sul Ross State - ETBU27 said that UMHB may be one of there closer neighbors in the ASC but it still requires a long bus ride and doesn't help either of our theories.

Lastly Wesley may not of been on our regular season schedule but that goes back to me comparing our total 2010 schedule to ETBU's future schedule so I include them and they are obviously one of the best teams in D3.

At the end of the day it doesn't really mater but I thank you and ETBU27 because this has let me chat on this board in March which is always great in my opinion. Good luck to ETBU and I wish  you good luck against Wesley because if you beat them that is good for our conference because it shows our strength.

Off topic here, but congrats to the UMHB Men's hoops team on advancing to the sweet 16 with a 70-67 victory over McM tonight.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I was listening to the Hal Mumme show early in the Basketball season and the host of the show was talking about how there are teams in the ASC across the sports spectrum that are consistently on the national stage.  I think it says good things about the conference when teams make deep runs in more than one sport on the national stage. I think the ASC needs more than a Women's soccer national championship this year. Somebody needs to step up, Go Cru Basketball, or some ASC golf, baseball, Softball, or track team.

The prospects at this time for deep runs include UTT baseball, any of the 4-5 national programs in softball, e.g., ETBU softball (2010 NCAA Champs) , McMurry men's indoor and outdoor track (2008 NCAA Outdoor champs) track.  UTT or McMurry men's tennis might be a regional power this season, but we are down a bit in men's and women's golf.

I hate to be this guy, but the UMHB basketball team actually hasn't done any winning on the national scale. They've beaten two ASC opponenets in the tournament. I'm glad they've won. I'm glad they get this opportunity. They haven't proven anything on the national scale yet though. Hopefully they do on Thursday.

True Crukid, happy they got out of the Texas Sub-bracket but hopefully they can go farther. Although if you listened to Coach DeWeese on the hoopsville podcast you might not think they have a chance haha I love how honest Coach DeWeese is.

Yeah, that hoopville interview was pretty good.  Crukid, of course you're correct, but it's really about perception and no matter how you shake it, sweet 16 is sweet 16.

Slightly irked you quoted me then bombed cru basketball...Its all gravy though.  8-)

In all honesty i dont even know how long a basketball game is. Haha, but yes again I agree with crufootball, ANYthing beyond conference is good for the conference.

Im hoping (for several reasons) that the ASC has more than one representative in the football brackets next season.
