So ASC fans, with the addition of Centenary to the conference is it impossible to think they will add football in a few years? If so, what does that do to the conference schedules? 9 Conference games?
McMurry should be in D-2 by then.

The conference played 9 conference games before Austin College left., a football game every week for the last 9 weeks of the regular season.

And tigerkat you sound like TLUGoat did in 2007, came in here talking about how they had some great recruits coming in (including him) and they were going to take over the ASC.  Well they ended up going 2-8 for the year.

And speaking of the truth, the only truth we have to go on right now is the past since we are still sadly months away from real action. And the truth is ETBU went 0-3 against the top 3 teams last year and 2 of those loses weren't close.
Whoaaa! Now hold on now..lets not forget that I(TLUGoat) never enrolled at TLU...hence them going 2-8...lol, jk...kinda....anyway..carry on with the fighting..I'm enjoying it from the cheap seats.

I wouldnt be shocked if UMHB goes D2 in a few years as well especially with the investments being made in on campus facilities.

It wouldn't surprise me either, but when I ask questions the answer is always that it won't happen.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I could see it, and them being successful there as well. They are located in a FANTASTIC recruiting area. And as a D2 school they would get even more transfer students and 5A kids. (Scholarships wont hurt either).

But lets consider the actual school, do they have the money to KEEP putting money in the athletics dept. And why would they walk away from their powerhouse status?

Joining the D2 ranks would have them offering 36 athletic scholarships which would be divided anyway they see fit......most "state schools" offer incoming freshman $1500 to $2000 a year for athletics......that amount will increase the longer they stay in the program.....in a lot of D2s, some tend to over offer the to the number of rectruits......they offer to say 40 recruits and have money for 30 and all the recruits say "yes" on signing day, thus over extending the school and the amount of monies available..... so, how does this affect the private schools........

other than the fact that a state school would cost about 12-15K per year and private would be 22-25K.........

many D2's have a terrible perception of D3 programs......

D3's not the division that the NCAA had to figure out a way to stabilize because so many schools were dumping it left and right ...

...and when the D-1 moratorium is lifted, there will be another huge shake-up in D-II.

Tarleton State?  Abilene Christian?  And that is just the Lone Star Conference.

I think it's safe to say the LSC could go have 3 to 4 teams make a move. My question would be who fills in? SCAC is pretty weak and the ASC is pretty tight knit.

The word around ACU is that they are headed to D1 in the near future. They have the property and plan for a D1 sized on campus stadium and it would surprise me if they jump in the next few years.

will acu still have the curfew once they are D1? LOL
