Thinking about "whether the numbers work" for D II is not the consideration for UMHB.  The primary matter is indeed the athletics philosophy for D III sports.  UMHB made a definitive change from D II to D III because it fit the overall philosophy of the university better.

I agree that many of the coaches in classes 1A -3A would feel that their football players would be excited to play in a first class stadium on a small college campus.

A nice stadium may bring some players to a school, but a winning program will bring a lot more.  ;)

and you put those 2 together and its got a chance to become a Monopoly  ;D

Id agree with most. Bill's point is a bit unnerving as well. I have a hard time imagining the stadium being valuable because I did go to a large 5A school and we easily averaged 10k at games. My transition to D-1 FCS the crowd sizes didnt even affect me. Then again these kids coming from towns that most havent heard of playing infront of that many could be a monster draw.

How long before the conference follows suit?

MC has a decent stadium, McM doesnt count...HSU is still a smaller and slightly awkward stadium. Other than that???
ETBU has plans of adding a new visitors locker room/training facility and a visitors grandstand...but thats tough.

I will not begin to comment on any other ASC program because I don't know enough to be considered ignorant. I will reserve my comments to that which I know and that is LC. That said, IMO the Cat's are reloading. They are stocked at wide receiver and have a couple of QB's that can get the job done. One was granted a medical red-shirt this past season. The other will be a sophomore and is athletic as any QB in the conference (he needs to mature in the decision making department, if he does he will be dangerous). The O line and backs will also be solid. LC's offense will be just fine and give everyone fits.

The defense will once again be the key for LC. The Cats only lost a couple of players off of a very porous D. They will need much improvement over last year if the Cats are to compete with the upper echelon of the ASC.

Thanks Kelly, Its nice to have a different view in here finally. LC can be kind of mysterious.

No offense to the HSU, UMHB or other ETBU fans.

you do know that Kelly is a UMHB alumnus, right? While he does offer the view from LC now that his son goes there and plays ball, he offers quality thoughts on the Cru as well.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

That's a hell of a nice looking stadium planned at UMHB.  I particularly like how they're incorporating the union building in with it.  Very unique venue.  Should help in recruiting.  Good luck with the project.

Speaking of UMHB when are they planning on releasing the 2011 schedule?? Their non-conference opponents ought to be strong.

UMHB typically does not release its schedule very early on this website or their own but unless something changes it will be the exact same schedule as last year just reversed. So our non-conference games will be UW-La Crosse and Southern Oregon.

etbu27

Oh wow... so both non conference games are at home....
Thats tough to beat.
