I guess this is the year Pete and the boys get one on the other thumb. That would be 10 rings in 10 years.

glad to see McM get some love in the poll. i'm ready for this season to start
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

LOVE to see that the voting is so close. Skeptical of the huge margin they placed between 4 and 5. But still excited for the close voting. Should be some BIG games this year.

When you run those numbers, you have a three-way tie for a little worse than "3rd" (27 votes times 7 points if 189 points) and a two-way tie for a little better than fifth (27 votes times 4.5 points for a tie between 5th and 6th place = 121.5 points).

I was unfamiliar with the voting procedures. But for the most part i agree with it being a VERY close season with shakeups every week.

Skeptical of McMurry though (sorry to say it) a great squad but second? Im not sure. I personally feel like our chances are infinitely better knowing they will be coming off 3 straight weeks of getting pummeled. Physically more so than on the scoreboard, but still a possibility for both.

On a single voter's ballot, you switch #2 McMurry and #4 Lousiana College and you get this vote total:

LaCollege 182 votes
HSU          181 votes
McMurry    181 votes

It is that close.

Then, on another ballot, you switch a #4 LaCollege and a #5 ETBU and you get

LaCollege      181 votes
HSU               181 votes
McMurry         181 votes

Miss College  125 votes
ETBU              125 votes

;D  Too close to call.

Everyone is chasing UMHB!

I've heard that somewhere before.  ;D

ASC football is going to be exciting week in and week out from the get go.  Have teams playing top ranked teams in non-conference and every week we could see an upset (see ETBU losing to TLU and ETBU taking UMHB to overtime...makes no sense haha).  I think the conference race is as wide open as its been in a while.  Easily the top 6 teams could make a legitimate run at the title if the pieces fall the right way.

I honestly feel that if UMHB loses 2 in conference....all hell will break loose.

I will go for 2 UMHB losses, if someone else runs the table.

I wonder how much parity we would have to see a one loss team and two or three two loss teams.

Team A beat every team in the three way tie for second.  The 3-way tie for second came because of each going 1-1. Team "E" gives the loss to Team "A", but "E" picked up three losses versus the second place teams.

To avoid an appearance of bias, let's pick on HSU.    ;D

HSU goes 7-1, with the loss coming on the road at ETBU after starting 4-0 against Coe, Willamette, Mississippi College and UMHB, and getting a few #1 votes.    ;)

Three way tie  6-2

McMurry, another loss to HSU, split with UMHB and LaCollege
UMHB      ditto
LaCollege ditto

ETBU    5-3  beats HSU; loses to UMHB, LaCollege, McM.  Edges Mississippi College.

Mississippi College 3-5; losses to the above five.

etbu27

Cant say this isnt one of the more interesting conferences in D3 this season, I think.

*PS Ralph, I agree with the statement and mostly with the predictions of the season. But would like to add that ETBU feels very confident going into the game against McM. Reasons being, best game of each schedule last season, and I anticipate they will be a few key players down after such a rough opening 3 weeks.

UMHB starts 4-0 and I think they go undefeated.

Really.  I don't think this conference has that much parity.
