Nice Around the South feature today on ETBU.  Thanks, Jason!

Thank you! Should be interesting to see how they bounce back against Austin this Saturday. Hopefully they stayed healthy. It looked like they had a few guys go down in the second half. I am sure Austin is anxious after a tough loss too.

Some interesting news today out of the Temple Daily Telegram is that while not finalized it is looking like next years non conference games for UMHB will be against Wesley (in Dover) and Williamette (at home) and they are still looking for a third.

Also UMHB will provide free live streaming of all ten regular season football games, all home events and select road contests in each sport.

Wow, FINALLY. Ive been saying for a while UMHB needs something like this. Take last year for example, they beat teams badly in the first two rounds of the playoffs last year. But when they finally got matched up with someone as talented and athletic as they were they completely fell apart. I'm not saying that this year they couldnt make a run and go all the way, because i really do think theyve got a shot. But i do think this i a good thing.

They played some pretty talented teams in the ASC last year that gave them some problems (ETBU, Louisiana College, McMurry, HSU.) I don't think they had a problem with game speed against Wesley last year. I think the Wolverines were just a little bit better.

Hardin-Simmons and first year head coach Jess Burleson end the conference losing skid this year and take the bling back to the 'lene.  First year Coach Jesse Burleson gets coach of the year!!!  Yea I am a homer, get over it!!!!

Not to take anything away from LC, McMurry, HSU, or ETBU. They were talented. In fact they did have a few players that matched up with UMHB. But theres a reason LC went 7-3, HSU went 8-2, ETBU went 5-5, and McMurry went 6-4. Not to say that some of those schools didnt give the Cru heck, because they did, but theres no way you can compare the OVERALL speed and polish of any of those four teams with that Wesley group last year. Either way you look at it. this should be a positive thing.

That same ETBU bunch just beat Wesley everywhere but the scoreboard Saturday...Those teams have those records because they all beat each other.  Pretty sure HSU was 2-0 in nonconf, McMurry was 2-0, LC was 1-1 i believe and ETBU was 1-1.  The ASC is one of the deepest conferences in the nation that nobody knows about

TxFight,

You make a very good point about the teams having to play eachother. And i do agree about the ASC being underrated. But i still think that its a good thing that we're scheduling teams like this for the non confrence games. If you look at some of there best years they played whitewater in nonconfrence.

Wesley won the red zone (ETBU, just 3 points in 3 trips), field position (avg. start at own 44) and turnover (+3) categories. ETBU played well in spots, but nowhere near well enough to win.

Just read on the WIAC boards that UW-LaCrosse will be busing down to Belton  :o I know this economy isn't great and that Coe did the same thing to HSU last week but that just seems cruel. HSU is flying to Willamette right?

Wow that's a long drive. At least it's a night game and it will only be in the mid 90s at game time. Those boys from Coe had to be baking last saturday. It was stinking hot in Abilene. As for travel, I'm pretty sure HSU is flying. I can't see making that drive in a bus. It would take the better part of 3 days assuming sleeping in hotels and not on the bus. At least UWLX can hit I-35 and head south.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Oh i completely understand.  UMHB is at the point in there program where they need to be challenged on a weekly basis

The budget crunch is so bad in the WIAC that the conference mandated that the 8 football playing teams play their 3rd non-conference game against an in-conference foe, to save on expenses.

I agree with you ETBU played well in spots but Wesley was not forced to punt once until the third 1/4 . ETBU has some big , fast and talented players and should be able to compete in their conference but they did lose their composure a few times during the game.

By lose their composure are you referring to the turnovers or penalties or both?
