I know it's a week old, but just saw the highlights of the MCM and MHB game. Horrible call by officials on the on side kick. That call decides the game.

Congrats to the CRU; nice knowing that IF WE WIN Conference, there will be no rematch in the first round against HSU.

Well, I had to be at a middle school tennis tournament all day in Georgetown, so I couldn't make the trip to Abilene. Anyone who was there, give a reaction to the game?
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

LC 52 MC 17 - final. Wildcat D was impressive - only giving up a field goal. A lull early in the 4th quarter by the Cats, that saw MC get two defensive scores, made the game a little more interesting than it should have been. I think these Wildcats are for real. It should be a very good game in Belton next week.

Thinking back, MC's field goal came in the first quarter as a result of a LC turnover on the Cat's first possession - a lateral pass was mishandled and MC recovered around the LC 20. So technically, those three points should be charged to the offense. The LC defense was tough.

A rocky start for McM today against ETBU.

A Pick 6 for 37 yd TD; a blocked punt for a TD and then a 37-yd FG.  After that, McMurry scored 56 unanswered points.

I am glad to see that we shut down Sed Harris and the Tigers.  ETBU has always been a tough win for us.

I'll say — I think this is only the second time that we've beaten them.

TLU Bulldogs destroy HPU..51-13.. Nice follow up win after beating ETBU last week.

Anyone know if there is a really good BBQ joint in Seguin? We ate at Davillas on 123 after the game yesterday and it was marginal at best.

GO BULLDOGS!!!

Louisiana College is blowing out good teams. These guys seem to be for real. How will they compare against UMHB this week. Any predictions?

If Louisiana College is legit, I expect them to beat UMHB, or at least play them very evenly.

Mcmurry defense was very impressive yesterday. Harris was completely ineffective against the #1 D and that is the biggest compliment i can give them. I do not think anyone has controlled him that way since last year. Hubbard was just in a bad spot to where McMurry knew etbu was going to be throwing the ball and they just pinned yheir ears bck and came after him. He took some big hits but it was good to see him sitting in there even when he knew he was gonna get hit.

No prediction for LC vs UMHB. I expect a very intense, physical game.

This is by far the best LC team I've seen. The offense is beyond loaded and is more than just pass happy. The Cats now have an effective ground game. The defense is hands down the best LC has ever fielded. It has been smothering. Most of the points scored against LC thus far have come due to turnovers.

LC has had a tendency to turn the ball over. If that trend continues into Saturday it could be a real problem. The defense has thus far played so well it has been able to mitigate the effect of the turnovers.

Saturday in Belton should be a good game. I hope the weather is nice and I hope I am present to watch.

I do not see a hurricane on the 7-day forecast.  ;)

Are you planning on any of the homecoming festivities ic you make it? And I assume you'll be sitting on the visitors side this season. :D
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Toby,

If we make it will be a whirlwind trip. We will have to leave after Friday's football game (my youngest is a sophomore and on his high school varsity). We will likely drive to Longview or Crockett and then get up early and drive on into Salado to my in-laws on Saturday. We might have to leave right after the game and head back, though staying through Sunday early afternoon might be a possibility. We won't know for certain whether or not we're coming until probably Wednesday.

I have to tell you this LC team is good and getting better. If they play to their potential, and they have been, they are really good. Of course UMHB is UMHB. The CRU will be ready. Saturday should prove to be a very entertaining game.

I understand the whirlwind thing, We are actually leaving after school on friday so we can make some of the festivities this year. (last year we just did it all on Saturday) We'll stay with my folks saturday night, but I have to preach in Coleman on Sunday morning so we'll have to leave early for church, then rush back to Abilene because the girls have tennis league on Sunday afternoon.
My expectation is for a good game Saturday (unlike some homecomings in the recent past). As always the Cru defense is for real. The question for me is what offense will show up.
