I have decided the pistol is like New Coke.  Not as good as the original and a change that didn't need to be made.

So where do you find enough cane sugar to sweeten the "old Coca-Cola" that we grew up drinking?

At the local mercado with the pasted decal Coke bottles from Mexico?   :)

Now that is a Coke!

Statement made by the Cru today. Still need to fix the passing, but the rushing and D were huge!  Way to go guys!

Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Congrats to The Cru. Dominating performance.

I wouldve liked to see a few more quick screens to Damian Davis, the worked everytime and we couldve used them in crucial positions. Both corners were out sized and couldnt stop it.

I agree, we could have worked our way down the field with the short screen and shorter passes; the long passes were mostly wasted; should have been thrown away rather than forced.

Great win for the Cru today, had to work hard for it. Having to work hard for wins is the case each week as the ASC is much improved from years past and the fact that everybody brings their A game against The Cru.

I don't know if the quick screen would have worked. There were a couple of times that the DB jumped the quick out and nearly picked it off. Two things about the passing game. If we are going to run the pistol, 1) it might make sense to throw some passes on a short slant in the middle where its open with running room. 2) Bailey has to stop telegraphing his throws
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I totally agree. When those LB's are blitzing, quick slant!

I agree, the quick slant should be utilized with the blitzing linebackers.  Success on those could set up the run again.

How many games and throws do we have to see to know we don't throw down field very well from the pocket.  In the middle of the 4th quarter we had completed 2 throws down field and one of those was on a bootleg.  Also, we were very fortunate early in the game that there weren't 2 other INTs.  Thank goodness for a false start or LC would have had a pick 6.

One thing that looked familiar to previous seasons, the running game wore down the LC defense.  I just wish they weren't running out of the pistol.  We ran a lot of zone read today and it wasn't very effective.

CruFrenzy

Well if we can run the ball just as well out of the pistol, and can throw out of it aswell, (if we can learn how to throw), isnt that just as good or better? And i understand it isnt better when we cant complete passes and we throw picks but the plays were there, it was just the throws that werent. And i know Bailey has the ability to complete those, so when he starts doing that, wouldnt the pistol be even more effective?

We are 4 games into a 10 game schedule.  9 INTs to 3 TD passes.  We throw 1 INT every 10-11 passes and that is way too many. We have not thrown the ball well at all, so why get in the pistol.  I don't think everyone is going to wake up tomorrow and suddenly become a great throwing team. It is a finesse offense and what the Cru does best is pound the ball.  It is also a different philosophy.  We have had opportunities to put games away and have thrown picks that let teams stay in the game.  There was nothing wrong with the I formation we ran and I think it suited Bailey's talents much better.  You say the throws weren't there, no kidding.  So why run an offense that requires those throws.  It is not what we do best.

Compare our points per game to teams in the past.  It is a direct drop off due to turnovers.  Our defense dominated after the first quarter, but there will come a day when turnovers will be too much to overcome.

Also, if this offense is supposed to take us deeper in the playoffs, i.e. the Stagg Bowl, I think those are pipe dreams.

Kelly Boggs

After the first quarter UMHB just exerted its will on LC. I have to admit I did not expect LC to be so thoroughly dominated. After the Wildcats lopsided wins over Milsaps & MC - and LC dominated those games - I thought the game with The Cru would be tight. I thought LC had perhaps taken a step toward hanging with UMHB. However, The Cru kicked it into a higher gear Saturday and left LC in the dust.

This season could be a great opportunity for LC in the growth of its program. If the Cats can win out, which will be no easy task, and make the playoffs it will be a huge step. In actuality the playoffs begin for LC this week against ETBU. Another loss and the playoff window will close.

Great win by UMHB. I hope The Cru rolls on to another ASC championship and deep playoff run.
