Interesting fact that I read today... Norman Joseph has never won a homecoming game while @ MC.
I'm your huckleberry.

I guess that may reflect Coach Joseph's choices of Homecoming opponents as much as anything.

Interesting factoid...

Very intriguing matchup this weekend in Belton as ETBU travels to take on the Crusaders.  ETBU is coming off a pretty solid performance in which they were up 34-0 on Mississippi College before hitting cruise control.  The previous two weeks they knocked off Hardin-Simmons 26-22 (outscored them 20-3 in 2nd half) and let one slip away against Louisiana College losing 31-24 (were up 24-14 @ half and took lead into 4th qtr).  Last year in this game it took overtime for the Crusaders to escape from ETBU with the 34-28 victory.  The tigers seem to be playing with some confidence but are still not quite clicking on all cylinders.  In my opinion the difference in this ball game is going to be the run game, can ETBU force UMHB to throw the ball and can UMHB slow down an ETBU attack that has sent running back Jair Stover to close to if not over 400 yards the last 3 games.

I'll be surprised if ETBU is within 2 TDs when the smoke clears.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I've been super impressed with this ETBU team this year. When you look at there wins and losses this year, they really do look like theyre THAT close to being a legit top 25 team. Excluding the TLU game, which really threw me off, because playing Wesley that well for the majority of the game, letting the LC game slip away, and taking down HSU and MC all looks pretty good to me. I've had my eye on this one for a while, and think it should be fun. But I'm gonna think ETBU can't slow down the run, and the Cru defense is the best ETBU has seen yet, and will see.

I think the TLU game really threw everyone off...for whatever reason ETBU has struggled against TLU the last few years and its wound up killing them the last 2 years.  I've watched ETBU every game the last 3 years and the ETBU team that i watched against TLU and McMurry was a completely different team than the other 5 games.  I know you can't exclude those games, but when you look at their other 5 they've beaten 2 solid teams (MC and HSU) and dominated 1 bad team (Austin) and has taken 2 top 25 teams to the wire (Wesley and Lc).  From the 2nd half of the Hardin-Simmons game to the time they hit cruise control against MC saturday ETBU had outscored opponents 78-34 in a little over 9 quarters of play.  ETBU has shown over the course of the last two years that they have the talent to play with top 5 teams...now can they just find away to turn "playing with" to "beating" top 5 teams.

Usually the Homecoming date is set by the alumni office rather than the football coach, and the conference schedule is set by the conference rather than the football coach. The odds that Norman Joseph had any actual control over who the Homecoming opponent was are rather long.

Let it slip away? LC played as bad as I've seen them play all year in the 1st half. They dominated ETBU in the 2nd half. Getting outscored 17-0 in the 2nd half isn't letting it slip away.....IMO

Concerning the LC vs ETBU game, I posted the following immediately after the game on Oct. 8.

Quote
The LC defense came up big by shutting ETBU out in the second half and the offense did just enough to pull out the win.

The LC defense was nowhere to be found in the first half. The Cats gave up 24 points and 308 yards of offense to ETBU. The result, LC found itself down by 10 at intermission. However, the second half was a different story. LC held the Tigers scoreless and limited ETBU to only 87 yards of offense. The Wildcats forced the Tigers to go three-and-out four times, held ETBU on fourth down once, and recovered a fumble on what would be the Tigers final possession of the game. Good come from behind victory for the Wildcats.

The game did not slip away from ETBU, rather the LC defense absolutely dominated the Tigers in the second half.
