Apparently it was a problem if no "accommodation" could be reached with HSU.  I don't know what that means, and while my preference would be to have both bands present at the game, I wouldn't form a final judgment until I could find out what, precisely, the problem was.  Did McM want something unreasonable that HSU couldn't agree to?  Did HSU want something unreasonable that McM couldn't agree to?  So far, no one seems to be saying.  I would worry now that this whole issue just inflames feelings on both sides, and hope it doesn't lead to any ugly incidents tomorrow.

Because I want my kid to grow up knowing that being a bully is wrong? Just because you are bigger and stronger doesn't mean you need to rub the other kids' nose in it. Not at any level. I've also found that the vast majority of people that grow up to be bullies whine the loudest when a bigger kid finally comes by and breaks their nose...

D3 is about sportsmanship. Don't believe it? Check out the banner at the bottom of this link that lists the 6 attributes of Division III:
http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/public/NCAA/Division+III/DIII+landing+page

There's nothing respectful about running up a score and encouraging bullying doesn't develop "responsible leaders and citizens". While I agree there is a difference between a game out of hand and running up the score (see my comments on the Centennial board regarding JHU's most recent win), running up the score should ALWAYS be considered wrong by those who believe in sportsmanship.

You sound like a bleeding heart liberal:'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

BTW60, keep your political views out of a football discussion. They're irrelevant to the topic.

You must be one too Warren.  One Question for you:  Have you seen my baseball?  On another note, lets go Cowboys. Keep up the tradition.  Your Cowboy brothers are watching.  Break Their Will!!!!DTL Offensive Line!!!

Only one thought. There are a lot of good points on both sides. Playoffs for points, backups scoring, manner of how scoring is done at the end of games; it all comes down to one's perspective.

This may not mean much to you UMHB2001, but if I were to defend McMurry (which I'm not officially ;) ) I would say this. UMHB has made its name running the ball; they can control a game with such strategy at the end. McMurry is built on the pass - passing 50 to 60 times a game, that is how McMurry controls a game; running the ball means chewing the clock right? Not scoring quickly, burning clock, and if the poor team on the other side can't stop you, you score, but it was with dignity, correct? I agree.

Notice the play clock when McMurry passes at the end, if you notice that we are snapping the ball with 15-20 seconds on that clock, my argument is null and void, but I believe you will find that we don't.

Now, as far as whether we should run at the end, to win with class, or whatever you think. There are 221 teams in NCAA Division III; McMurry ranks #221 in rushing offense. If we spent an entire quarter, whether the game was out of reach or not running every down, we may not be able to keep the ball out of the other teams' hands.

Just a thought ...

On another note, I am taking a position within the university at McMury and will no longer be SID as of Nov. 3 - I will finish out the year as McMurry's primary contact for football, and hopefully that extends beyond Nov. 12 :)

To all on this board, and D3; I've enjoyed my time as a part of McMurry athletics; I've seen the highs and lows of the football team, and am hoping that point spreads will help us get through if we can run the table.

As for Saturday, as a stat nerd, I like to judge my predictions based upon point spreads of common opponents; early in the year I would have expected a pretty one-sided game in our favor, but HSU has a transfer from my alma mater in Zack Stewart and they have the ball rolling. I am hoping for an exciting game, and can't wait for it.

I'll change my username soon, and chime in from time to time.

Good luck all

I don't care if you throw the ball because that is your offensive style. Run your O. Just do it with backups when it's a blow out.

UMHB game is being broadcast through the UMHB website. And it's free, which can't be said for the MCM/HSU game.

UMHB game is veering ready to be a route quickly. 2 offensive plays = TD's.

I'm at the HSU game and watching the UMHB game on my iPhone over McMs open campus Internet. BTW While typing this HSU threw a bomb for a td called back
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

McM beats HSU 24-14... after 23 years!?
And now a new problem: Who gets to keep Wilfred Moore trophy, if the two teams aren't going to play each other anymore?

I think that the team that won it last should hold it in a safe and esteemed place until the series resumes.  ;)

jknezek

Like a boxing trophy. Team who won it last keeps it until they refuse to continue the series. Then it goes to the team willing to play.

Maybe a new trophy for the McMurry-ACU winner?  ;)

Since going back to the I, UMHB has thrown 7 TD passes and has no INTs.  Big plays have gone up.  TD passes of 28 yds, 90 yds, 45 yds, 29 yds, 37 yds, and 44 yds.  :)

You are correct, Bill, but don't discount the drop off in team quality over that same time as a reason. The toughest part of the schedule was played while running the pistol. your not comparing granny smiths to granny smiths. It's more like Granny Smiths to Red Delicious.

First off, as a former Washatonian, let me say that honey crisp apples are some of the best, especially cold, out of the fridge. As far as the remarks about the passing game, you are right on when you say things have gotten better. I'm no expert, so I can't pinpoint the reason. But, I'm glad to see it.

Our true test will come once playoff season rolls around. It's going to be interesting to see what the Louisiana and McMurry do. Wish I could see it.
