That was good Ralph.  However, the sun might not come out for some teams tomorrow.  :D

Before he states his opinion,  (and waiting for the Regional Rankings this week will help a bunch)

I think that Wesley knocks out Huntingdon, which removes HC from the equation.

If Trinity beats Centre, then

the McMurry at Louisiana College winner goes to Linfield;

Trinity goes to UMHB;

and Redlands goes to Cal Lutheran.
So the winner of LC and McMurry wouldn't even be in the south bracket?

Would you assume that this plan is even more likely if McMurry were to win out, since I would assume the cost of sending the Warhawks and UMHB to oregon are roughly the same as opposed to LC which would be more than both (again I assume).

Ralph Turner

I will bet that there is little difference in the cost thru the NCAA's mega contract with the airlines.

Abilene to DFW is about the same as Alexandria to DFW then to Portland.

Pat Coleman

A flight the length of DFW to Portland has to be charter, by NCAA travel guidelines.

So the charter can begin from ABI (Abilene) or AEX (Alexandria).

What about my dream game of McM and Trinity?  ;)

I think that Cal LU and Redlands meet in the first round.  (That is okay, because both sets of fans can get to the game without any expense.

If Lewis and Clark makes it, then that gives Linfield a first round game.

Maybe they fly someone into UMHB and let Pool C McMurry go to Pool A Trinity.

This is sort of pie in the sky, since McM and LC aren't done after they play each other.  What if LC beats McM and then loses to HSU?  Then there probably won't be any Pool C bid to begin with!

True enough. If you haven't seen the regional rankings yet here they are:

SOUTH
1   Mary Hardin-Baylor   7-0   8-0
2   Johns Hopkins   7-0   8-0
3   Wesley   4-1   7-1
4   Trinity (Texas)   8-0   8-0
5   McMurry   5-1   6-2
6   Centre   7-0   7-0
7   Louisiana College   6-1   7-1
8   Thomas More   8-0   8-0
9   Hampden-Sydney   7-1   7-1
10   Washington and Lee   8-1   8-1

McMurry @ 5 and LC @7 looks promising
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

This is very true, there are still games to be played before Pool C arguments mean anything. However, to play devil's advocate and just wonder aloud, is there any possibility that the ASC gets two Pool C teams in? I think the general perception is that the 2nd place ASC team and 2nd place SCAC team both have very good chances to get in. If the LC/McM game is decided by 4 points or fewer doesn't the loser stack up pretty well against the 2nd place SCAC team (assuming that everyone wins the following weekend)? I know one of the criteria the selection committee considers is common opponents and there are a couple noteworthy ones here.

MILLSAPS:
LC 56-0
TU 10-3
CC 24-22

TLU:
McM 60-16
TU   43-14
LC   37-16

If McM and Centre both lose, why would McM fall below Centre in the Regional Ranks? Wouldn't McM with two losses to regionally ranked opponents on the road by a combined 4 points be a very attractive two loss team?

There was discussion the week before last about a 2 loss UW-Oshkosh being a Pool C. They would have had an in-region loss to UWW and an out of region loss to UMU. The assumption was, IF they ran the table, they probably would get a bid, but there was a lot of debate. If you could lose to both purple powers, including a very close loss to UWW, and still be questionable for a bid, I wouldn't bet on any 2 loss (D3) teams getting a bid. UWO promptly made it a pointless argument by losing.

A team with 2 regional losses I would suspect as being very marginal. There are just too many 1 loss teams that are going to be deserving when each region nominates its candidate. I wonder if the regional committee would even bother nominating a 2 loss team knowing that it would be up against (most likely) 3 other regions showing one loss teams.

Which could very well happen!

IMHO, HSU looked better against us than what I saw against Coe (on the videostreams.)

I think that they are getting better each week!

They are improving each week, but at the same time, McM ran the ball more than I expected. McM exploited the weakness of HSUs run d like UMHB did and the big boys up front for LC likely will as well. I think the most probable scenario is McM winning this week by 5-10( I'd go double digits if it were a McM home game) and LC beating HSU in a close game. It will be interesting to see what SRSU does after last week, but i fear it will look a lot like the HPU game and UMHB will clinch the AQ saturday
