Might have taken a while to recognize the offence did not fit well, but once the change was made, the CRU did really well.  I am anxious to see how we perform against such a mobile and talented QB as McSweeney!

Coach Fredenburg is quoted in the Sunday Abilene Reporter-News as follows about the Saturday game with McMurry:

"I think the thing that has really bothered me just personally from the last two times we've played them, it's been reported that they outplayed us," he said. "They wanted to prove they were better than us.
"That's never been the case, nor have we ever voiced that concern or that thought. And to really substantiate where we are as a football team and as a program today, it was a sweet win."

Since it's being argued that McMurry was beaten by the wind as much as by UMHB a week ago, to really substantiate how good you are, and how good the ASC is, you guys need to beat Wesley on Saturday!  Go for it!

Just for the record, in case anyone thought differently, UMHB played in the same wind...I was there...I saw it.  The coaches AND the team were out there.  ;)
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

I think the below poll question from the D3 football home page is misleading in it's answer choices.  There are purple clad teams left in all four regions:  UWW, St. Thomas, UMHB, Mount.  Just my opinion.

Will it be an all-purple Stagg Bowl?

Yes, absolutely
No, just Mount makes it
No, just UWW makes it
Neither: Both get knocked off

And if I am a UMHB fan, then I could not have asked for a more perfect day for a game against McMurry.  ;)

Sorry that I missed you. I was hoping that more UMHB fans would "post-game meal" at Schoepf's.  :)

Well, I will be at the game this weekend. Friday is my birthday so for my present I want a trip to the semis. Rain, snow, sleet, or hail (or renaissance festival for that matter) will not keep me from this game.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

My point is that the wind was a much bigger problem for a team with a passing offense than a team with a good running game.  But beat Wesley on Saturday and there's no question how good the UMHB program is.
Alacumba!

I am pretty sure everyone knows what we're talking about, considering the same two purple teams have made the Stagg Bowl six years running and are commonly referred to as the Purple Powers.

UMHB folk, I saw it posted that Harris ran for 290 against UMHB, what happened in that game to allow that many yards.  I know he is really good, but that is a lot of running by anyone.  Sounds like both teams are playing some of their best football at this time of the year.  Wish I could make the game, but too far to drive.  Will have to watch the video.

Oh Ralph, you so funny. We've played teams in fair weather and bad weather, remember, we did beat Mt. Union in the snow.  ;)

I still can't figure why Mumme didn't plan for that and elect the wind so that he could determine how the wind was with or against them in the fourth.

He did not have a rushing TD, though.

It's hard to say exactly, as that was so long ago. But, we did play Redlands and their quarterback, Chad Hurst, was a dual threat back and we held him in check. He only had 52 net yards.

It's hard to say, but I think our team has gotten better since that game, having seen most of the games, so, I think I can say that we have gotten better on D.

Does UMHB have a video feed for their games?  There weren't enough seats on the plane for camera guys, so I have to stay home on this one.

umhb2001, wow, no TD, that makes it even more crazy.  Nothing against Hurst, but I doubt he is as good as McSweeney or Harris.  Have to have some sort of an O line to make it happen like that.

Ski, that sucks.  I checked out flights and they are on the expensive side this time.  Jan and I flew 3 years ago to San Antonio for Jason's last game and paid less for 2 tickets than the price of 1 this time.  Pretty sure they have a video feed or at least I hope there is.
