I also think this will be the toughest match up of the year for the Cru. But the good news is, its gonna be cold and windy for sure, with a good chance of rain. Not to say that i dont like our chances in a dry game, but it would be a definite Crusader advantage this Saturday if its similar to last week. I think if we get through Wesley, we should have as good a chance as any year before to break the "Purple Reign".

If there is anything Wesley knows about weather, it is wet and windy.  The Nor'easters we get here in Delaware create some very nasty and cold weather.  The Salisbury game was an example of all the above!  Check the bottom of the box score for the game and you will find this:

Weather: Build an ark
Temperature: 45
Wind: NNE 25

I don't think UMHB will have any advantages this weekend with the wet weather on the way.  As mentioned above, if Wesley used a spread offense, I would be really concerned, but they don't.  The game should be pretty evenly matched, IMHO.

Well then good. That way there will be no excuses either way ;)

I was surprised that Davis' catch was not one of the plays of the week.  Was it submitted?   :)

Not sure. It was a great catch.

Well it looks like the weather may get a little nasty on Saturday during game time.  Passing yards may be at a premium.  Turnovers may well be the determining factor as they usually all but ball security will be necessary for the winner.  At this point I like Wesley's chances to win this game.  The D line will have to play big and shut down some of the run and make UMHB throw the ball more than they want to.  Easier said than done.  Wesley will need to get some yards from someone other than McSweeney in my opinion to win the game.  I still dont think they use McAndrews enough.  Wish I was getting ready to be on my way, but will be watching on Saturday hoping that the weather forecast is wrong and the game is played in sunny weather.

Of course, that's your team, and as always, I feel the Cru can win. This is Darius Wilson's 3rd post season game to be the man, he is just getting his feet wet with big shoes to fill in Quincy Daniels. Darius can do it or he wouldn't be there. We have a laundry list of guys who can run the ball, so they will be coming full force all day. We really haven't fumbled a whole lot this year, and we are used to the wind. Should be a fun game.

Looking forward to heading your way tomorrow for a great game Saturday.  Never made it your way before - any tips for getting around in your area?

We had to be on such an emotional high after last week's come back I hope we come in focused and ready to play the whole game.  UMHB always has a good program, and there's nothing but respect for this year's team too.  Do you guys even remember what rain looks like after such a dry year?

Wesleydad - we'll cheer a little louder in your absence.

Where are you staying?  Many great places to eat and hang out. A new place down town, The Gin, has a yogurt place, Mexican food, some shops, and a new steak house I have yet to try but I've heard is good. It is all decorated for Christmas and they have an open air fire pit.

Schoephs is a great place for BBQ. The ribs and steaks are my fave, as are the cheesy potatoes and green beans. Sweet tea can't be beat either. It is on Central.

Take a drive through the campus if you can; it is real pretty and is nice to look at.

Safe travels and God bless!

De Wesley Fan, get into San Antonio if you can, little bit of a drive but the River Walk is really nice.  Plus you can visit the Alamo, although I was surprised how small is really is.  We enjoyed our trip to Belton and although I am not a big BBQ fan, I believe we and the team ate at Schoephs after the game.  I did like the brisket and the bbq sauce was good.  Looks like they may be getting some of the wet weather they have been missing the next couple of days.

QuoteCloudy with rain likely. Highs in the upper 60s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph becoming south 15 to 20 mph by noon. Chance of rain 60 percent.

That is less wind than last week but replaced by rain.

Gray Fox, that is a better forecast than I saw on Weathe.com.  I know they usually put the worst cast scenario out there just in case.  Ok with the rain as long as the wind is not out of control.

Getting around won't be hard. The area is easily navigable. I second the Schoepf's recommendation. My wife and I had our rehearsal dinner there 18years ago and its still a favorite.

As for things I would remember. Make sure to bring clothes that will keep you warm when its raining. May sound strange, but the stadium funnels the wind and if its raining it does get freakishly cold. I remember the North Carolina Wesleyan Game a few years ago where a cold front came through and it rained and the poor NCW folks suffered greatly because they thought Texas was a warm weather place. I've lived in cold weather climates and never been as miserably cold as in Texas.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

The best book on Texas is Lone Star by T R Fehrenbach.  I actually prefer the 1986 editions over the 2001 edition.

Fehrenbach writes history in a manner that says "this is who we are".

My favorite chapters include Anglo-Celts, Blood and Soil and Secession.

Toby, I remember the day that we were in Belton.  Started out cloudy with a little drizzle and the next thing you knew it was cold.  Game started and the sun came out and it got to about 65 - 70 and I had to take layers off, ended just in the jersey.  You are right, dress for anything from 32 - 70.

Thanks for the tips - will definitely get over to Schoeph's, looks like a great place.  Your weather sounds a lot like ours - if you don't like it right now, wait 5 minutes and it'll probably change.  We're coming into Dallas-Ft Worth Friday, will drive down for the game Saturday morning, and going by Cowboy Stadium before heading out Sunday.  Other than that no definite plans.  Had thought about doing San Antonio instead, but DFW was cheaper - guess we'll save that for next time.  Safe travels to all & here's to a great game.
