Thanks for the tips - will definitely get over to Schoeph's, looks like a great place.  Your weather sounds a lot like ours - if you don't like it right now, wait 5 minutes and it'll probably change.  We're coming into Dallas-Ft Worth Friday, will drive down for the game Saturday morning, and going by Cowboy Stadium before heading out Sunday.  Other than that no definite plans.  Had thought about doing San Antonio instead, but DFW was cheaper - guess we'll save that for next time.  Safe travels to all & here's to a great game.
If you're driving down Saturday, leave early enough to stop in West Texas and get some Kolaches for breakfast. West is a Czech community and worth the stop. Might I recommend http://www.czechstop.net/home.php. Its on I35 so should be a pretty easy stop and go.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

That's "West, Texas" not "West Texas"  ;) and I second the Czech Stop.  There's actually a better place in "downtown" West (not as freakishly touristy, better stuff too) but I don't think they're open on weekends.  And if you like ice cream, stop on the way back to Dallas at Braum's in Hillsboro, which is just a little way north of West.  Absolutely immense, delicious scoops of ice cream for about half what you'd pay at someplace like Baskin-Robbins.  OK, so much for the food report.

So I'm contemplating the drive up from Austin.  Got the OK from my wife, who's tied up with band auditions all day, but man it looks like a nasty day tomorrow.   It also looks like it should be a good game.

Looking forward to heading your way tomorrow for a great game Saturday.  Never made it your way before - any tips for getting around in your area?

We had to be on such an emotional high after last week's come back I hope we come in focused and ready to play the whole game.  UMHB always has a good program, and there's nothing but respect for this year's team too.  Do you guys even remember what rain looks like after such a dry year?

Wesleydad - we'll cheer a little louder in your absence.
Getting around won't be hard. The area is easily navigable. I second the Schoepf's recommendation. My wife and I had our rehearsal dinner there 18years ago and its still a favorite.

As for things I would remember. Make sure to bring clothes that will keep you warm when its raining. May sound strange, but the stadium funnels the wind and if its raining it does get freakishly cold. I remember the North Carolina Wesleyan Game a few years ago where a cold front came through and it rained and the poor NCW folks suffered greatly because they thought Texas was a warm weather place. I've lived in cold weather climates and never been as miserably cold as in Texas.

That NCW felt like the longest football game I have ever sat through, I think it took me three days to thaw from the freezing cold rain. I can take the rain and I can take the cold but lets hope they don't meet again on this Saturday.

I remember being bundled up and still cold and miserable and thinking the ncw team had to be seriously suffering with no rain gear. I'm not sure they've thawed out yet

At least it will be warm.  That should help keeping hands and legs flexible and ready to play!

Welcome to Texas all Wesley fans; I live and drive from the DFW area on saturday game days.  Driving time is normally 2 1/2 hours to Belton . Give yourself at least an extra 1/2 hour this coming saturday. Baylor is hosting U Texas , home game in Waco, 2;30 pm kick off. Traveling south bound on I-35 to Belton you pass thru Waco and the Baylor campus. Leaving DFW area before 8:30 am should put you ahead of that traffic and get you in plenty of time before kick off. I second the Czech stop in West, texas but note it is easier access on return north bound side of I-35. I also am a big fan of Schoeps', but also know if your a big Mexican food fan? One of the best in Texas is across from Schoeps'. The Taqueria EL MEXICANO.  Great food , great margaritas and excellent value. All the college football games shown there also. Safe travels and see you at the game.

I will once again be eating my post game meal at Schoepf's and invite all interested parties to join me there!

will you be sitting in the usual location at the game? The family is staying at my mom's because of the potential for rain.

Thanks for all the tips. - you have found the way to this girl's heart.  Pastry, great football, BBQ, and ice cream - doesn't get better than that.  Arrived in TX safely and can't wait to head your way in the am.

Looks like my pass has been revoked.  One of our cats is having issues and has to see a specialist (never knew such things existed) at 9AM tomorrow.  If I get done in time I'll still try to pile in the car and zoom up.

umhb2001, wow, no TD, that makes it even more crazy.  Nothing against Hurst, but I doubt he is as good as McSweeney or Harris.  Have to have some sort of an O line to make it happen like that.

Ski, that sucks.  I checked out flights and they are on the expensive side this time.  Jan and I flew 3 years ago to San Antonio for Jason's last game and paid less for 2 tickets than the price of 1 this time.  Pretty sure they have a video feed or at least I hope there is.
Here is the link for the live video feed of the game for anyone that can't make it to Belton Texas. http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/umhb.portal

You bet!  Near the top between the 30 and 40 yard lines on the scoreboard end.  See you there!
