Hardin Simmons and Linfield start another 2-year series next season.  2012 in McMinnville, 2013 in Abilene.
You going to make it back to Abilene?
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Ha!  Trips to Abilene haven't been the greatest for the 'Cats but I'm going to do my best to make a return trip back to West Texas.

What a game today Cru fans. Your guys came back with some energy! Today tho, we were able to hold them off...this has become a great rivalry! Will see you all for sure next season i bet  ;)

Has become a fun little rivalry and if the local newspaper was right earlier in the year they reported we may play you guys in the regular season next year.
The Cru is coming to Dover in week two, I believe. Wesley travels to ETBU in the opening week. Looks like the first game at the new stadium in 2013 will be Wesley/UMHB.

Good to see two high level programs willing to take on this game.  I hope other schools follow suit.

Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Gray Fox

I was at this game, but I deny going on the field during the winning run.

Fox Goes on Field

BTW - The on side kick leading up to the last minute run did not go ten yards.  The refs got it wrong. :'(

I love Lidarral Bailey and think he can be a good thrower, as he has shown, but for those who may be more knowledgable than I am, I wonder why UMHB has not had someone who has been a little more adept at throwing the ball. It seems to me that the Cru have been prolific in other areas, but have not yet grasped the need, nor have we yet grasped the ability, to throw the ball late in the playoffs. I know, we caught a pass for a TD to be MU, but seriously, one time in all these years of deep runs. What do you think? Is it merely the fact that we are a run first program, so a prolific thrower won't want to come here, or are we not getting to those guys soon enough to get them to Belton?

Roocru and i were talking about that at the Wesley game. The point he made is that getting a top notch passing QB in Texas might not be as easy as in other places. Think of the # of Texas QBs playing D1 ball. Even from small schools. Colt McCoy was found at a 2A school. The thought was that it could simply be a matter of greater opportunity in or around Texas to play and pay for school that has kept that top flight (4 D3) passing QBs.

I guess so, but Harris from LC was a pretty good thrower, and HSU seems to always have a top flight QB, as did McMurry this year. They are out there...they have to be.

I see a freshman on UMHB's roster from Groesbeck, pretty tall for what we have normally had,    6-3 I believe. I'm interested in seeing what he does.

Thanks for mentioning our conversation, Toby. To go further, you mentioned D1 schools but there are numerous D2 schools looking for that type of QB as well.  And don't leave out the junior colleges!
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

I would love to see a true dual threat like McSweeny of Wesley come to UMHB but I understand why a throwing QB would not want to come to UMHB since we run the ball nearly 75% of the time.
