The last stat line was from his 2010 season with D2 Lincoln (Mo.) - sorry, thought you all could read my mind  :-[ - He is a California native and played at two different jucos out west before heading to Missouri.

This from Lincoln when his signing was announced:

AJ Springer
6'0", 185, Quarterback
(Chaffey CC/ AB Miller HS/ Fontana, CA)

Coach Cochran – "I am very excited about signing AJ Springer. AJ brings experience and the uncanny ability to make plays.  We look for him to make an immediate impact in our program."

Springer put up big numbers in the JUCO rankings, passing for 2,220 yards with 20 TDs and rushing for 775 yards and 12 TDs.  During Springer's senior year in high school, he passed for 2,226 yards and 21 TDs, while rushing for 1,738 yards and 24 TDs.

my guess is SRSU will be flinging it around just a bit.

Looks like UMHB is going back to the pistol... sort of. Had a nice story the other day about how the offense is going to be run with Jeff Shinn at the helm.

From the TDT
"As such, the Pistol will remain as UMHB's primary formation but will be utilized in a different way. "We're not trying to have a whole bunch of offenses," Shinn explained. "We're trying to have some things that us coaches understand, our kids understand and that we can go out and execute." The days of checking and rechecking with the sideline before executing a play look to be over for the most part. Now it's all about quick snaps, firing off the ball and then doing one of two things — giving Bailey or a running back the best chance to make a play with their feet, or having Bailey throw the ball with simpler reads and betterdesigned routes for the receivers.

It also went on to say that everything is being designed to maximize LiDarral Bailey's strengths, the team's physical style of play and the ability to run the option.

Personally I am loving the way this sounds but I guess we will see next weekend.

UMHB's Nate Menkin was released by the Texans today.  He had a tough row to hoe cracking into the Texan's lineup.  Perhaps with the injury to Rashad Butler on Thursday night they will keep him around as a possible fill-in on their taxi squad or he can be picked up by someone else (Jets maybe :)).  He seemed to me to have shown something by making it to the last cut!

Bill, at least you know things will be more to your liking with former fullback Jeff Shin running it!

Great Newsfor Nate, but it's the Eagles. :P
Looking at the Eagles web site it is clear that Nate was signed to be on the 53 man roster an help shore up the O-line. There's a nice write up taking about his playing days at UMHB

Just thought I'd leave a note that I miss all the action here, now that McMurry has gone D-II.  It's the start of a new football season, and where do McMurry fans go to hear the latest rumors and trash talk about the people we're playing now that we're no longer members of the ASC??   :-\

LC opened on the road at Lake Wales, Florida (about 65 miles due east of Tampa) against NAIA Webber International. The Wildcats defeated WI 34-16.
