I go to church with an HSU coach and I can promise you they are marking this week, and they believe they can beat the Cru.

Well of course they do! And rightfully so! I mean, of course they aren't going to drop their heads and come in thinking they are beat, but seriously, LiDarral Bailey, Javicz Jones, Darius Wilson, and Geoff Myles know how to get the job done and know what to do. They aren't going to let anyone overlook HSU.
no doubt, and I have told him this might be the best Cru team I've seen.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

yessir

I can't help but point out that the best Cru team ever did happen to lose to HSU.... on homecoming... when UMHB came into the game 6-0...this sounds familiar.

And umhb students were wearing a homecoming t-shirt that was disrespectful... Personally I don't think you should schedule a rivalry game for homecoming. too much emotion involved. especially when the rival is within driving distance.

Coaches don't always get a lot of say in who their Homecoming opponent is. The conference schedules most of the games, and then the alumni office decides when it wants Homecoming to be. A coach may get to have some input but remember that coaches don't even schedule the conference games, so there's not nearly as much control as one would assume.

I can attest that this is the case for UMHB, they set a pattern a few years back that says the second home game is Family Weekend, usually the 4th home game is Homecoming and the last home game is Miss MHB. Only having 4 games this year obviously makes it harder to spread out the events on campus.

Also you are right Toby, the students (I was one of them at the time) did have shirts made for the game and ever since I have never wanted to make a shirt for a specific game. We also made shirts two of the times UW-W came to town and the games ended the same way it did against HSU in 2004. No worries though there are no shirts this year other than Homecoming shirts to my knowledge.

and the homecoming shirts are pretty generic. Pat, I too know that to be the case with UMHB. I just think its a bad idea. I've seen close to 8k people at a HSU UMHB game and emotions always ride high. I've even sat on the HSU side and listened to what's said, it gets way too emotional.

Always a good day when Yessir shows up! This weekend should be a great game. I think BHMU is still the front runner but i'm certain that coach Burleson will have the cowboys ready! Every year it seems like it could go either way and lucky for those of us who root for either team it's generally a very competitve game. Good luck to both sides and lets hope for 0 injuries for both squads. Go Cowboys

There's being emotional and there's being an overly emotional, often irrational, idiot. i.e. UT vs TAMU. the UMHB v HSU rhetoric can reach the latter level. I understand that kind of emotion because I get too involved in games I'm watching. I just think when you're talking that kind of emotion potentially attached to a game the game should not be your homecoming game.

Defenses were still at the tailgate ???   :D
I don;t think they bother with defense.
both defenses must just sit and watch each other's offense shamble up the field.  70 - 65. That's shameful. Maybe both the defenses went to the movies and let the offenses play it out.  Somebody needs to start teaching defense!!! Or maybe they only have money for offense coaches.  SAD!
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!
