Picked up my season tickets for UMHB last Friday. Not going to be many empty seats, if any, come opening night. Very exciting time with a few questions on the team. The two biggest: How will the team fair without LiDarral Bailey at QB and without Javicz Jones manning the middle of the field?

The defense will be fine in my opinion. The CB's and line are tough, but the big question is can we stop 3rd and 3-6 yds. Pressing the crossing pattern and keying that draw/run will be extremely important and telling. I look for these over the first two games, Redlands and Keane, to be key indicators against Wesley.

On Offense, can Gallagher or Sims emerge on top? I believe Gallagher actually has the edge. He was very dynamic running the ball. I expect a ground heavy game with two dynamic runners returning in Hudson and Beaugregard. I think Sims is the better passer as he showed good success when given long minutes of time last year.

It should be interesting and I hope that the boys work hard to push each other.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

7500 seats ... hope you leave a few for visitors.   ;)   I'll probably head up the road to see the Trinity game if the situation permits.

CNU85

Just saw the story about UMHB's new stadium! Congrats!! Looks impressive. I witnessed the debacle vs CNU at Belton. It was HOT that day in the Aluminum seats. I dubbed it the Belton Bakery! I broke into the radio booth...they had AC!!

Interesting that the story states that UMHB started football in '98. Just a few years before CNU. I know Texas is a football hot bed, but so is this part of VA (The 757).

Good luck in the new stadium and good luck this season!

Louisiana College....glad we're all comin' down.

DOC's cryptic post probably refers to something I've heard rumored recently, that Linfield and Louisiana College will play in 2014.

So does that match-up replace the Hardin-Simmons game for Linfield and fpr Louisiana College adds the possibility of getting another D3 opponent. That's great for each program.

Man with as much as Linfield and Wesley like to come down here I wish we could just have them in the conference haha. We all need some more D3 games on the schedule.

Pat Coleman

My understanding is it replaces Hardin-Simmons on the schedule.

That's bad news for Wildcat 11. No HSU=No Dixie Pig :D
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Everything I read prior to this article said 10,000 seats, what happen? it sure looks bigger than 7500. What is the latest work on season tickets sold?
Less than two more years of Gavin.

I'd read only 10,000 as well but when I watched an interview the director of campus construction gave to a local TV station, he said 7,500 on camera. Seemed like he would be one to know.

I think the 10,000 number caught on because it was a good even number but it included 2,000+ standing room tickets which we obviously won't use much.

The seats should actually be done within a few days and it appears they are going to start the turf tomorrow.

I think that the 10,000 was based on a possible expansion number that had been stated. Here is the website for the original strategic plan outline.
