the weddings not til 2. I'll definitely be streaming before. Maybe the Cru will be far enough out front at half that all I'll need is twitter updates.

Very close game today. UMHB did not play well defensively, esp on 3rd down. Gave up too much and had penalties to extend drives. The Oline's also looked to get off the ball slowly.

Montague is a BEAST! 239 total yards of offense. Crazy!

Anderson looked confused at times and that stings.

Lots to build off of and with Wesley getting beat, we will need to shore some things up.
i listened to most of the game & it sounded ugly. Need to fix it before next week HSU seems to have figured out  the offense. You coming to Abilene?

I was at the game as well and I think you guys might be a little harsh on the Cru.  Louisiana played inspired and determined and their offense reminded me somewhat of Wesley.  They had a nice young freshman QB who stood in the pocket against the rush very well.  Montague, the running back, is a handful both as a back and receiver.  They had a couple of receivers who were above average and one made an unbelievable catch for a TD. They had a very big offensive line that played about as well as they could.  They were also letting it all out with some funky go-for-broke formations and kept the defense guessing on some of those!

On defense they were very aggressive with stunts from their base defense and threw in quite of a lot of a stunting 3-3 stack which is extremely tough for lineman to pick up on.  I was surprised after seeing their earlier scores and they moved up quite a lot in my estimation.  I might even look at them in my Top 10 rankings this week with all the other South region upsets that occurred.  I am not saying I will put them in my top 10 but I will be looking at how they rank after playing UMHB closer than anybody else.  They knew this was their chance to get in the playoffs and played accordingly.

My 2 cents worth anyway! :-\ :)

thanks for the insight. The TDT article mentioned the crazy scheming as well. My reaction was based on the radio announcers because I couldn't get the video to work, and being at a wedding, I was a little distracted. My comment about fixing it before this week has more to do with HSU than anything else. I know this one is circled, and they have some RBs that can get after it. I think they need to put HSU down early and often. HSUs defense will give up big plays but the offense has some ability to be explosive. Earlier in the year I expected this game to be a blow out but I'm not sure about that now.

My take:

LC offensive line played exceptional. For the most part they gave young Mr. Meloncon time and he delivered. He is going to some kind of QB by the time he is a senior. Coach Dunn did what he does best, he concocted plays to get relievers open. Montigue always runs tough and Galyon was Mr. Clutch making some big catches. The LC defense was committed to stopping the run and they did succeed in slowing it down.

This was by far the best offensive showing the Cats have had this season. The defense has played well and really has been they key to the LC season thus far? I think this game showed how good and how effective the UMHB offense is at running and, yes, throwing the ball.

In spite of the picks, young Mr. Anderson stepped up. He proved that if you load up to stop the run, he will make you pay and pay dearly. Defenses will have to play straight up which bodes well for the running game, or they will have to pick their poison. I believe The CRU offense is going to very tough to defense. Perhaps we should call Mr. Anderson Neo, he seems to be the One. : )

Defensively, UMHB needs Diaz back in order to put more pressure on the QB. When he is on the field he is either doubled teamed or is in the QB's face. The D line did fine today, but with Mr. Diaz they are very, very tough.

The CRU needs to ratchet up the intensity coining out of the gate like did against Wesley. The next four weeks UMHB needs to get healthy and fine tune some areas and get ready for the playoffs.

LC's odds at making the playoffs are probably slim at this point. However, they are, in my opinion, a playoff caliber team.

Well that's my two-cents worth. Which, Yogi Berra might say, ain't worth a dime. : )

I definitely hear what you are saying. My biggest issue was that UMHB didn't really bring a lot of pressure. It looked to me to be a base D that didn't harass the Freshman too much. We latex a few licks on him and on Montague, but didn't pressure them enough.

That hurt with the long TD's to Montague up the middle. He was wide open on those passes as it looked as though the LB's were not in position to cover him. And a few times on O, Anderson looked more flustered than Melancon did for LA.

I've never seen our Oline be so unable to create holes unless we played MU or UWW. We need to be stronger there.

LC deserves to be a playoff team. We'll see.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

UMHB will need to pick up the pressure on the QB against Hardin Simmons as well as improve on pass defense and rout recognition.  The big back coming out of the backfield was not picked up several times on Sat.  I am expecting the coaches to make the necessary adjustments for Hardin Simmons and after a tough first half for UMHB to pull away! Go Cru !!!

Sorry I will miss the UMH-HSU game this week.  Some of my best memories involve this game.  Once flew from a meeting in Quebec to Abilene to make the game.  Got to the stadium at kick off.

Anyone coming in for the UMHB - HSU game? If so it'd be great to meet up. Maybe grab lunch if y'all are going to be here early enough.

if HSU lets UMHB run up the gut like that, this will get ugly quick

UMHB is going out of their way to keep HSU in the game,

Now might be a good time for the Crusaders to get serious.

UMHB defense has played well. HSU has moved the ball on most everyone. Not so much today.
