Great all around game for the Cru today. From my research, it looks like the largest margin of victory for the Cru in team history.

323 yards rushing/208 yards passing

Biggest problem of the day?? Losing senior QB Jake Sims again to a groin issue. Jake has worked hard and we need him emotionally and as the backup.

HPU had put up quite a few points last week against ETBU, so for them to be shut down today says a lot about our D.

HPU only had the ball in Cru territory a couple of times. Pretty good day on D.
The radio crew said that it was the largest margin of victory and the 2nd most points scored
2010  UMHB 81 TLU 3.  (Why not move to the SCAC?  You might get to play UMHB in the first round of the playoffs!)

What happened to LC today? I thought that they would have this one. ???

I think this statement from the TLU game summary explains what happened pretty well.

In addition to the three interceptions (given up by LC), the Bulldogs' defense stopped LC three times (twice in the second half) on fourth down.

Hard to win when both of those things happen.

That's unfortunate. I really wanted LC to win!
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Look at the bright side, you won't have to worry about facing another ASC team in the first round now.

At that point couldn't we count them as ASC team since they will have played every ASC team

Assuming TLU in the first round, I like to think TLU is just finishing out their ASC schedule

UMHB played on all cylinders today! Coach Fredenburg got all 80 players in the game, 3 QB's as well as a WR took snaps! The Cru could of had more total yardage, but they had really great field position the whole game. UMHB was only one point shy of the school's record of most points in a game with 80 points! It looks like UMHB will be peaking just in time for the playoffs!

Was it just me or did UMHB run a few plays in the wildcat formation during today's game?

they did. Coach Fredenberg has said they want to run it because of the options it provides.

This is the second week they have run the wildcat, and it seems as though Sims tore his groin again.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

I was very surprised by the outcome of the LC vs TLU game. I expected LC to win going away. That said, the only thing consistent about the Wildcats this season has been their inconsistency. LC's best game, by far, came against UMHB. Had the Cat's played all season they way they did against The CRU they would be in serious contention for a playoff spot. If ifs and buts...

Looks like UMHB is tuning up for the playoffs. I'm looking forward to every home playoff game.

Up with the Purple!

Al Quartemont's post game wrap up from the LC-TLU game from this past weekend is below...

Disappointing loss for my Cats. Playoff hopes were slim even if we had been able to win out, but this loss all but ends our playoff chances for 2014. The good news is that we have virtually everyone coming back on offense that touched the ball in 2013 minus Ryan Montague. Ryan actually does have one season of eligibility remaining should he choose to use it. He's simply listed as senior because he has stated this will be his last year.

Easton Melancon will grow a lot from this season and out of the Wildcats' top 7 WRs this season (Kyle Galyon, Jake Dunbar, Shed Davis, Ladarius Gardner, Farron Jones, and Chanz Moore, and Maurice Cooper), 3 are freshman, 3 are sophomores, and 1 is a junior. They have a chance to get back to putting up ben McLaughlin-era type numbers the next few years if everyone stays on campus and stays healthy. I think Shed Davis has the chance to be the next big thing at WR for LC, following in the footsteps of All-Americans Darnell Williams, Jordan Rideaux, D'Mario Parker, etc.

Defense should be really good too in the upcoming years, especially on the D-line, that's gonna be our strongest position. We have some really athletic pass rushers up there.

Gonna have a lot of turnover along the OL after losing 4 senior starters last season and losing another 3 after this season, but other than that, the 2014 and 2015 seasons could be special years. Having a big-time playmaking QB at the helm changes everything for a team in the ASC (see in recent years, McLaughlin, Jake Mullin, Logan Turner, LiDarrel Bailey, etc).

Maybe things changed in the second half, but I was surprised that LC didn't go after the QB more after Peavy went down (or was removed; not clear as it happened after an INT).   Early on LC was getting good pressure on Brent, but as Trinity discovered he evaded the pressure and was able to make some big plays after escaping.   The guy that replaced him didn't seem nearly as mobile but seemed to have more time.  Maybe TLU changed their blocking schemes, maybe LC kept more people back in coverage, but given the success LC has had pressuring the quarterback I expected them to get after the new guy (White) more.

BTW, I really enjoyed listening to your pregame/postgame shows.  Very professionally done!

Thanks Ron. Al Quartemont is the best in the business when it comes to making coverage of a Division 3 football program a priority. He did an 8 hour long documentary last season that followed the team from summer workouts all the way to our first-ever playoff appearance against Mary Hardin-Baylor. It was fantastic. Wildcatsmedia was his pet project, and now we have pre game coverage, hype videos, game recaps, and 400-500 pictures on the Wildcatsmedia Facebook page following each game. That's all because of his vision.

And to your first point, we actually did throw a lot of zone blitz packages at TLU, but their RBs did an UNBELIEVABLE job of picking them up and taking our blitzing LBers out of the play. We also had to respect their read option and screen game, they hit us hard with that often. Our defense is heavily reliant on getting pressure on the QB, we have over 30 sacks on the season, and when teams do as good a job at picking up and calling out blitzes and protecting the QB, it's tough. They did a fantastic job doing that against us. TLU's offense was impressive. Much more simple than I thought it would be, but they execute extremely well and they are very patient. They'll be a tough matchup for somebody in the playoffs.
