Crew wins, but a rather lackluster performance, even with a 35-7 score.  Glad to have a win anyway and looking for better weather next weekend!

The Cru was very flat on both sides of the ball.  They will have to play much better than that.  As usual, they did win the kicking game.  2 blocked punts and a punt return for a TD.

I think you described UMHB's performance on Saturday well with the word "lackluster," Dr. Bawcom. I expected The CRU to come out with playoff caliber focus and intensity (a la the Wesley game), but they didn't. It seemed to be the same the previous week against MC.

John Wooden said you could play your best, lose, and still feel very good about yourself. He added you could also win while playing less than your best, but that was nothing to brag about. I know the CRU Nation is pleased with the first round win, but next week many of the UMHB faithful hope for one to boast about (a la the Wesley game) as the team plays to its potential.

Take nothing away from Redland's, they showed up and played hard, but Saturday was not the playoff football we expect from UMHB. I fully expect UMHB to ratchet up the focus and fine tune the execution and play CRU football against Rowan.

Passing was flat but not needed, and we rushed VERY well. Anderson ran well and so did others. Defensively, tackling was weak. We have to stop the ball carrier at the point of attack. I'd like to see the YAC numbers.

Seeing a team for the second time in a season and playing in cold weather, these things lead to this style of play. We should have overcome that, but still, it isn't surprising.

I think we'll be fine.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Marthelis Marcen looks shifty fast at the running back, and Darren Dungee seems quick to the ball on D. In their two losses, Rowan didn't run extremely well, and seems to give up quite a bit to the run. We should be able to dominate up front on both sides. Hopefully we'll play a bit more inspired and come ready.

Hey, desertcat1, The CRU will take it about as easy on Rowan as the Wildcats will on Hampden-Sydney.   ;)

I'm pulling for UMHB and the Cats to win the next two games. It would be great to welcome Linfield to The CRUthedral for a semi-final match-up. If that happens, I will buy you a Cru-dog and throw in some purple-vanillia Blue Bell ice cream (Cru-nilla I think they call it) as well.

The Salt Lick is mighty good, but Belton is home to Schoepf's BBQ which offers a brisket that is second to none. A great place for a post-game snack, considering the noon kick-off time during the playoffs.  :)

Belton had Miller's BBQ also, right by the Belton Journal.  It was just listed in Southern Living!  Great sliced beef and pulled pork sandwiches!
I am expecting another break out game by the CRU on Sat!!!

Three of the six members of the Boggs Bunch will be present and accounted for at Saturday's game. I hope to see you this trip, Dr. Bawcom.

The road trip starts today. First to Jefferson, Tx., and Lake O' The Pines for Thanksgiving. On Friday we will make our way to Central Texas to visit more family and then to UMHB's second round playoff game with Rowan on Saturday.

Expecting a much more intense performance from The CRU this week.

For everyone attending the game Saturday...it is in your best interest to stay out of the reserved seating sections. Those seats are for people who don't like to stand or cheer during the game. And if you stand or cheer and interfere with the people around you being able to watch the game in the comfort of their seats...campus police will ask you to sit down, find another seat, or leave the stadium. They are trying to build a "championship atmosphere" in Cru Stadium...and that does not involve standing and cheering the Cru on. It involves sitting there in silence so you don't bother the people around you.  Stand in the concessions area, or go sit with the students if you plan to stand and cheer.
