Wow, what a comment.  You must have been sitting somewhere else in the reserved seats!  Of course my back is to the brick wall under the president's suite, so I don't care if you stand the whole game!

The Salt Lick is mighty good, but Belton is home to Schoepf's BBQ which offers a brisket that is second to none. A great place for a post-game snack, considering the noon kick-off time during the playoffs.  :)

When I used to travel to Temple for business when I ventured to Belton the Dead Fish Grill was one of my favorite places, but I did have several excellent meals at Schoepf's BBQ.  In Temple I found Best Quality Meats & Sausage to be a hidden gem for a great BBQ lunch.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Mr. Bawcom we were sitting in section 104 on the second and third row. 3 older gentlemen made a huge fuss about us standing up. One even got in the face of an alumni who was already moving to another section. I was informed by the head of ticket sells that the cop had no business threatening to kick us out of the game, however if we wanted to stand there were other areas of the stadium we could do that. I discussed it with the Director of Event Services and he compared me standing to someone holding an umbrella...needless to say he wasn't concerned about my side of it. He was obviously more concerned about the older gentlemen. Which is sad when you think about what football alumni have done for the University. There are are a lot of people responsible for CRUthedral, alumni being one of them. It wouldn't be standing if it wasn't for the alumni's role in forging the program into a National powerhouse. Maybe the older crowd will pad up and start winning championships in the near future.

On of my biggest frustrations has been the lack of support the crowd gives the players. A few years back, I missed the deadline to get my reserved seats and had to sit towards the top of Tiger stadium. I was whistling and stomping, making noise as it is a FOOTBALL game. I was asked by old guys I know from church to stop whistling and by a guy a few seats down on my row to stop whistling and stomping as it was jostling his view through his binoculars. I get the look often to be quiet as I'm making noise. It really ticks me off.

I don't care about being heckled by other fans for standing and cheering. It's a totally different deal when you have University officials asking you to sit down, move, or leave.  Makes you question what kind of atmosphere the University is trying to promote at games.

I agree. I don't have any problem with voicing my concern about that either.

Being the avid fan I am, I understand your concerns.  I have had concerns about the lack of crowd support except at crucial moments in games in the past.  We were hoping for a big response in the new home stadium.  I will certainly pass your comments on to the big bosses!

I understand the desire to give the Crusaders a home field advantage by making noise, and I stand and yell on big plays, 3rd downs, etc. However, seats were included in the stadium for a reason. Some people, especially older folks, don't have the energy or the desire to stand and scream the entire game, and there are kids and shorter ladies who want to see the game who are too short to see over a bunch of taller adults standing in front of them. It's inconsiderate to stand the entire game and block those peoples' view. They paid for their tickets just like those who want to stand.

I sat/stood over in the north bleacher section last week because I do like to stand for a good portion of the game and that section had more space available so I could choose seats where I would not be blocking someone's view by doing so. The people I really had a problem with were the TALL college kids (athletes?) a few rows below me who not only insisted on standing the entire game, but standing ON TOP of the bleachers so that my view was blocked even when I was standing. Security NEEDED to tell those guys to sit down, or at least get down off the bleachers, but they didn't

You obviously didn't talk to the cop that I did. He would of gave them the same ultimatum as they did me. Do the people who stand not pay the same amount for their ticket? Is asking me to sit down the entire game not inconsiderate to me? It's a football game not bingo. If you don't have the energy to stand up and cheer for the team you are watching then maybe you should stay at home and watch the game online. Like I said...it depends on what kind of atmosphere the Univeristy is looking for at the stadium. The quiet opera like football experience or championship football experience.

Interesting that I check in on the ASC board and you guys are talking about what I saw at Mount for the JCU game.  Security was making anyone standing for longer than a play to sit down so that all could see the game.  03, I agree with you, standing the entire game is not really necessary.  For big plays most people stand.  Some of us take others into consideration before we do what we want to do and some only think of themselves and the hell with the rest of the people.  I was raised that is what selfish to think that way, guess maybe not so these days.

Good luck tomorrow.  I don't think you guys have anything to worry about.  Rowan is a run heavy team which will not likely work for them.  There D is pretty good, but Wesley turned the ball over several times, gave up a pick 6, and still had the ball inside the 10 - int in the end zone at the end of the game, with a chance to win.  UMHB wins this won by  20+ in my opinion.

I guess in D3 football standing and cheering at games is being inconsiderate of other and being selfish. Whistle....it's not the D3 football I remember being apart of. But sitting down and making everyone around you do the same isn't selfish or inconsiderate. Sounds about right...

I imagine there are a bunch of fans who are sending 3- and 4-figure contributions to the athletic department who want to watch the game but enjoy the game differently than they would have 30 years ago. With a stadium that large UMHB can have various sections for the various types of fans.

Have a CouchCru section, and save a section for the old-timers.

yessir

Yea I think it would be best to label sections of the stadium and sell tickets appropriately to avoid any selfishness or inconsiderate fans who like to go to games and cheer. People of all ages contribute to the athletic department...so that is a moot point.

yessir,

With all due respect, you're beating up a straw man. Nobody is saying that fans shouldn't stand and cheer when something important has happened or is about to happen, we're saying that people should have some consideration for those around them and not stand the ENTIRE GAME.

Yes, those who want to stand the entire game paid just as much for their tickets as those who want to use the seats for their intended purpose, but there's a big difference. People who sit all or most of the game aren't interfering with other people watching the game they paid to see, those who want to stand the entire game are.

That said, I do like the idea of having areas where standing the whole game is allowed, and other areas where people can sit without having their view blocked. That way everyone can be free to watch the game in whatever way they enjoy doing it.
