Mount Union is undefeated and Wesley has 2 losses.  That is enough criterion alone, but Mount Union was the #1 seed in the bracket and Wesley was not.

I also don't think that one ordinal out of 244 is enough difference in the eyes of the committee to use to distinguish the 2 teams.

If Whitewater and UMHB end up meeting in the semifinals with both undefeated, I'd like to see UMHB get the nod for the home field. I think all in all UHMB is the better team. Of course we're never given the true ranking for the playoffs, the selection committee does a good job of keeping it under wraps. This way they can put whichever they desire as the home team without any recourse. UMHB has payed its dues and deserves the home field.

I don't understand what this means.  The NCAA could easily tell everyone the seeds (and therefore allow people to see the hypothetical future hosts and therefore know what options may be ahead of them) without any recourse at all. I have never had anyone explain to me the advantage anyone has by not announcing the seeds. I sent an email to the chairman of the national selection committee asking this exact question and did not get a response.

I'm guessing a UW-W/ UMHB game would be in Belton. But it's frustrating that it has to be a guess.  You think UMHB is better. I'm pretty sure they are not. It would just be nice for the NCAA to let us in on where the possible match-up would be played.  ;)

My guess that the UMHB UWW game would be played in Belton, because of the way that UMHB performed in the 2012 playoffs.

my guess is Belton because the aa wants more people to experience the Cruthedral so that jealousy fuels a stadium war and then the aa folks will have cushier environs to visit during the playoffs. ;D I jest of course...... Or do I?

If the other criteria are equal (and I haven't even bothered to look), that would make sense.  The biggest problem I have is that we have to guess and not know for sure. At a minimum, there has to be a REASON the NCAA doesn't want to let people know. At this point, even if the secrecy of the actual seeds continues, I'd like to at least know the reason for it. Even if the reason is lame like, "We don't want weeks of emails from frustrated fans." My response to them would be. "OK, seems lame to me but you guys are in charge and footing the bill so what you say goes. Thanks for letting me know." I am becoming increasingly doubtful that I will ever get to say that to them.

In 04 W&J was absolutely outmatched. I don't remember the stats...but I know we beat them up bad. Second and third string played most, if not all, of the second half. I dont remember specifics...I just remember thinking to myself "How in the hell are these guys undefeated". And they beat a lot of teams convincingly that year.  I remember them asking "Did y'all bring your horses?" during warm ups. They got a good dose of the "horses" all day. I can respect confidence, but going into a game cocky against the Cru is bad business. MU fans were very cocky last year before the game started. They were very quite at half time. Many of the trash talkers shoke my hand after the game saying it was the best game they've ever seen at MU.  I just hope the Cru plays up to their potential and don't make careless mistakes. The punt block on Saturday gave me nightmares. I hope they get that worked out. A blocked punt most likely cost them a National Championship last year. I'm also hoping, god willing they make it to the 4th round, they host so I can attend the game. We flew last year, but my wife will be 39 weeks pregnant so flying isn't an option this year.

The CRUthedral is the premier venue in D3. I also think ESPN would have to do very little to set up shop. There are the balconies on the student union building just behind the "visitors" seating. You have the mezzanine level that effectively goes around the entire stadium and there is an expansive mezzanine type area at the top of the upper deck seating. Additionally, any number of the "luxury" suites could be used as a broadcast booth. It would be great palace -- err, place to host a semifinal game.   ;D

UMHB just has to keep winning for it to even be a possibility.

That place looks amazing, I think it would be a great place to hold the Championship...

lets not stir up that discussion. That's for the general football board.  ;)

I hear you about making careless mistakes.  The only time we played Mount Union close was in the semifinals back in 2006.  Two big plays in particular cost us.  An errant snap on a punt attempt that went sailing through the endzone for a safety.  That put Mount up 9-7.  Then in the 4th quarter with the score 19-14 they blocked a reasonably short field goal attempt (couldn't have been more than 30 yards) and politely tacked on a touchdown themselves in the 4th to seal it.

It's natural to think well if this bounce went this way or that way, what would happen.  But I always end up telling myself there is another side to that coin where even more plays could have went poorly but didn't.  Still, if not for those two plays it would have been a tie game all throughout the 4th quarter.  Anything goes when that happens.  So close to a national championship appearance the following week...yet so far away.

Oh and Kmic was a beast that day.  Had like 900 yards rushing.

Looks like it will be another cold (and possibly wet) weekend. That may play into SJF's game plan. The game against Redlands was a little concerning because we looked one dimensional due to the conditions. The one thing that I love about Pete and the coaching staff is that they'll find a way to make plays in some of the worst conditions Texas can dish out.

NWS currently has Belton at a high in the low 40s with a 30% chance of rain and light sleet.

"BestForecast" (available through Weather Underground) says 41 with a 50% chance of snow (yes, kind of hard when it's nearly 10 degrees above freezing).

Lower 40's and rain....
Hmmm- Looks like the boys from Rochester wont have to bring underarmour!

Texas cold is just a flat out different type of cold. So yall probably should bring (if you make the trek) some warm clothes. It will ice before it will snow here, and it sucks when it does.

Couchcru,
With all due respect,
Please allow me to giggle a bit with your "different" type of cold.
I am only goofing so please don't take this seriously, because in the grand scheme its about the game this Saturday....
But really?
Telling people who had 2 degree and minus 1 degree weather on Thanksgiving to wear warm clothes?
Really? ;D
