The new d3football.com top 25 came out with the usual suspects in the top 7. Can't wait to see if UMHB can crack into the top spot this year.

I couldn't care less about a #2 or #1 ranking. I came to UMHB in 97 as they were recruiting and have been watching games since 98. Unable to make the trip to the Stagg in 2004, I witnessed the blk punt and subsequent TD at the hand of Linfield. I traveled to Wesley in 2006 to see our team sputter, and yes, I was in the stands last year as we lost by 1. I want to see a passionate group come back this season and do what should have been done last year. Only then do I care about a #1 ranking.

Its a good thing that rankings aren't used to determine who gets to compete for the national championship. However, rankings are for fans who like to see how their team is respected nationwide. Nevertheless, we all know that they mean absolutely nothing come playoff time.

I'm starting to get the football bug.  The time must be drawing near...
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Forty days until UMHB kicks-off the season at Millsaps in Jackson, Mississippi. I'm counting down the days to the first game of the 2014 season.

Looks like Teidrick is the Lone Ranger on ether preseason All-American list on d3football.com. Can't wait to see who else will turn heads like he did last year.

The off season I still could not shake that UMHB field goal decision.

I was in Central Texas last week and stopped by The CRUthedral. I noticed a few tweaks here and there making it look even more amazing. There is now a sidewalk running east and west on the south end of the stadium and the landscaping looks great. The Bawcom Student Center on the east side of the stadium is complete and looks wonderful. I'm looking forward to making ALL the home games this season (also a couple of away games), plus the playoffs.

Looks like McMurry has been allowed to skip the exploratory year for a school reclassifying to Division III and will instead start its four-year reclassification process this fall. That would leave them eligible for the postseason in 2018-19.

Would that also mean they don't count for the at-large bid till then ?

I am trying to figure the machinations of the football Pool A bid.

Mississippi College left this year.  Did Miss Coll count towards the 7 team requirement to maintain the Pool A bid in 2013-14, in any sport, but especially football?

If so, then the ASC has two-years to reach the 7 team requirement for the Pool A bid.

Does re-classifying permit the ASC to count McMurry towards the 7 team requirement before 2018-19?

Really starting to get excited about the upcoming season so I was looking over the schedules for some of the ASC members. Going to be very interested in watching how well Louisiana College can play. They have definitely proved they can be a contender every year but it also foreseeable that they start the year 1-5 with games against Huntingdon, TLU, UMHB, Wesley and a D1-AA program in their first 6 games.

LC's schedule is ambitious, no doubt. I read in the local paper that part of the reason behind the Alcorn State game is a financial guarantee (if my recollection is correct it is $35,000)which will help with the travel expense for the Wesley Game.

Hard to pass that kind of money up, especially with the Wesley game on the schedule. Did I hear correctly that is their first ever flight for a game?
