Greets all, new to the board... I was reading the board and although the penalties did hurt in game one, I think we can guarantee that will be addressed. Otherwise keeping an All American Rusher to 40 yards, putting 43 on the board and keeping Millsaps out of scoring position, I'd say for a first game the guys did well. I read how someone made a comment about not #2 good, I'd take that into consideration that it comes from someone who just watched his #20 ranked team lose by 36 un-answered points.

Being a transplant from Cali and having a tie to Redlands I'll be at the first home game wearing my U of R hoodie the first half.. and my UMHB at the second.

Welcome to the board! They weren't ranked No. 20. :) There are only two recognized polls for Division III -- we didn't rank Millsaps and the coaches' poll hasn't come out yet this season.

My bad, I just read in the pregame that they were ranked.

I think that considering the fact that we were starting some players who had not seen varsity playing time at all, The Cru played well on D. The penalty issues will be addressed and taken care of. This RB and QB combo gave me nerves for our young D, but they stepped up! That's not something I think many expected.

Again, though, that 3rd string QB was electric with his feet. See his touches go up in the future. I was sad to learn that one of the Wimby brothers is no longer playing. They both are good players.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

umhb2001,

#13 put on a show during his short stint on the field. He did make some things happen.

Upon reflection, the UMHB defense did look pretty stout, especially in the third quarter.

Looking forward to the home opener Saturday against Redlands.

where are y'all sitting? I'm coming alone and am sitting in 204 J. Trying to figure out homecoming because there are very few seats available together unless we sit in 201 or 207
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Kelly Boggs

Toby,

I am not sure where we are sitting for the Redlands' game. I usually don't know until I get there. That said, PM me and I think I can help you out for homecoming.

Louisiana College plays at Alcorn State this weekend. Anyone else fascinated by this one? Alcorn State just barely lost to Southern Miss after a late rally, but rolled Virginia University of Lynchburg. USM might be one of the worst teams in FBS, Alcorn State is a decent FCS school and VUL struggles in D3 match ups. So it's fair to say Alcorn is probably a solid team. It'd be a nice scalp for LC if they can pull it off, but I think it will be a very hard road.

Speaking of which, LC has just a brutal schedule. The opening game didn't quite go to plan with Huntingdon giving them all they could handle at home, then a very respectable FCS foe on the road, then TLU coming off a strong year in Louisiana, then a respectable NAIA program in Bacone with Bacone coming off a bye week and playing in OK, then Wesley in DE, a bye, and in Belton for UMHB. Is there a bad opponent in that bunch? Of that bunch, the hardest opponents are all road games for LC. I could imagine by the time they get to the bye before UMHB LC will be thoroughly sore and tired. Wonder how it will play out when the get to the rest of the ASC schedule.

I think technically if their only two losses (not counting either Alcorn State or Bacone) are to both UMHB and Wesley, I think they have will have a strong resume when playoff time come around. As of today, I believe both UMHB and Wesley will go undefeated in D III play, thus if there aren't many other undefeated B teams or 9-1 teams with stronger resumes at the end of the year, then they are in the playoffs (most likely going back to UMHB). Nevertheless, I think the game against Alcorn State is awesome, it is always good to see how our D III programs matchup with D I-FCS programs.

204, and H is our row, I believe. The purple just above the yellow H crossbar stripe. We have 6 seats there.

Great info. A tough stretch in deed. Wisc-LaCross also has a tough 3 game stretch: St. Thomas, Us, Whitewater.

Cru Fan, What is you take on the weather at game time and is the school expecting a near sell out ?

olddog,

I will be traveling in from Central Louisiana. According to Weather Underground the Saturday forecast calls for: "Scattered thunderstorms in the morning. Cloudy skies late. High around 75F. Winds NNE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 50%."

It looks like a front is moving through. If the temp is only going to make into the mid to upper 70s, that will constitute a major cool down.

I would expect a packed house, dunno about sell out, tickets at  least from the CRU side are getting really scarce in most sections. Alot is going on, First home game, Military Recognition day as well so we'll also have military families attending the game. But I would bet the crowd is gonna be loud and alive....
