The HSU def line is doing a good job but a QB that can't make a quick read and step up into the pocket or run the ball is not helping.

That was an ugly, ugly game by the Cru.  Glad to walk out of there with a W.  Hats off to HSU, though.  I can easily see them winning the conference if UMHB wasn't around.

A tale of two halves for the Cru.

HSU really came out and handed it to the O for UMHB. The D looked stout and really troubled the Cru, but this is not really anything we haven't seen, I mean, usually, the OLine is tough, physical, and pounds the rock. They were out played today. I don't know what HSU's returners look like for next year, but that could be another tough match-up.

The DLine played well last week against Barrolle, but this week they got knocked in the teeth, which is really a good thing seeing how they were able to come back and play physically. Teidrick Smith was all over the field today, and the DB/LB's for UMHB came up with some timely INT's.

I'd love to know what was said at the half, because UMHB fought hard in the third, gaining more yards than in the entire first half!

A couple more tough passing attacks to end the season, so we'll have to get some things shored up before playoffs.

Up with the Purple... The UMHB purple that is!
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

I though that HSU was going to hang in there until the third and 17 pass got tipped and the deflection landed in the Cru receivers lap and he scored. You knew what was coming after that and after the pick-6 on the next possession I was on to see if Platteville could hang with the UWW.

Brutal first half for the Cru, but we just had to be patient. HSU came to play and I don't know if it was just me and my seats or was their O & D lines huge? They came to this game up from the outset...But I could not believe the series of Doh! plays in the late fourth giving them a final TD.
Holy samoleys did enyone else see the scores today... Linfield lost to Willamette, Concordia-Moorhead   lost to St. Thomas...Hampden-Sydney lost to Bridgewater (Va.)

Yeah, pretty crazy day.  Especially that Linfield result!  Gonna be interesting to see how far they fall.

Never thought I would see the day that a UMHB football team would have more passing yards this far into the season than they do rushing yards. Apparently that has been the case since before the TLU game but now the difference is close to 250 yards. The Cru have rushed for 1,857 yards and passed for 2,125 yards. Not too surprising considering our change at OC and a lack of dominate rusher, but will be fun to see how the rest of the season plays out with Duane Thompson appearing to be taking over the role of leading rusher.

The OLine has not been dominant, in my opinion, like they have been in recent years. That makes a big difference. The RB for HSU yesterday is from Killeen! He ran hard and down hill. I wonder how we missed on him.

I don't get how UMHB was nearly surpassed by MU in the polls. I get they are good, but at quick glance, again, it seems as though our competition has been stronger. Facing an inspired, one loss HSU shouldn't hurt us. We played lights out in the second half. WW had nearly the same situation and yet we don't pick up points on them?

I get what you're saying, but WW played and beat a ranked team yesterday.  As good as HSU is/was, they are not ranked.

Agreed, but I still feel that we should be getting more love than that.

On another note, other than the bad throw and pic, Zach Anderson is looking very good. I'd still like to see Blake a bit more, but I think Zach is getting his feet back under him. As long as we can get good looks against tougher D, I think we'll be fine. Two years ago and last year, we struggled passing against MU and UWW. Our OLine is going to have to get to the point that we can avoid the bad snaps and get some good blocking cause the guys will do damage down field.

Yeah, his stats are always better than I think they are.  I've been pretty impressed with his maturation in the passing game.  Agreed about the snaps, too.  If I had to see one more bad snap against HSU I was gonna go nuts.  It seemed like every time we had one it would push us back to yet another 3rd and loooooong or even worse a turnover like at the end of the game.  I have no doubt Coach Pete and his staff are gonna bust some heads until it gets fixed.

Mount picked up a first place vote from UWW this week, so that's a reason they got so close. Also, they hauled out their opponent and we trailed at half. All the d3 guys were buzzing about it. Keith even said he couldn't remember the last time UWW and UMHB both trailed at the half.

Not sure what the voters decision making is, but honestly, I'm waiting to see what the selection committee does with the playoffs this year. Hopefully they'll release more than just #1.

If we smoke HPU & ETBU, we should get more ground on Mount. They play John Carrol the last game, which will probably be their toughest of the season.

And the polls are totally meaningless, anyway - not a factor in the way the playoff participants are selected or seeded.

Amen to that. Fans who believe their team "should be getting more love" might be accepting popularity as reality.  ;)

Was glancing around at scores from this weekend, did anyone catch the score of the McMurry game? They played Texas A&M Commerce and lost 91-13, this is the same Commerce team that ETBU 98-20. It seems the Lions can put up some serious points even against the better teams on their schedule, I would be very intrigue to see UMHB go up against a team like that, but at the same time would never want us to waste a regular season game on it.
