It's a shame that two one of the best teams in the country will be going home after the second round just because the NCAA is too cheap to pay for the travel that would allow for FAIR pairings.

It is. But I agree with the post several spots above. Linfield's loss this year made this more digestible. Still not a perfectly fair pairing, but it would have been worse if both teams were undefeated.

I am concerned The CRU's blow-out of TLU on October 25th might keep some fans home. I hope not. We need to be CRU-proud and CRU-loud to start the playoff run with a CRUbang!  8-)

I don't think the opponent has as much impact as the timing. With Thanksgiving being next week many students head home early so they miss the 1st round and then don't come back in time for the 2nd round. Not a good excuse but when you add in that no current UMHB student has even seen us lose anytime befor the third round and you get a base of students who arent jumping to go to games.

I sure do hope for a big turnout this weekend.  Right now they are predicting 68 for the high with 40% chance of t-storms.  Regardless, I'll be there with my family!  We haven't missed a home playoff game in years.

I'm already going back and forth on how this might impact the game.  Conventional wisdom would say that inclement weather would definitely be to TLU's advantage.  In the first game there were times that TLU would really stack the box when the Cru running game was hitting on all cylinders.  They were able to stop it then, but the Cru would counter with a back shoulder pass to man coverage on the corner or some type of seam route by an overzealous safety for very big plays.  You'd think the rain would also help here.  However, TLU had absolutely no chance running on UMHB.  To have any chance, I'm thinking they're going to have to be more creative offensively.  And with rain, I'm not sure that helps them in the least.  Thoughts?

I'm not sure the weather will impact play, just fan presence. Last year, we had a couple nasty games in the season and playoffs, but we still stuck to the playbook. If there is a stiff wind, that may change things, but not just wet and cold, thats what you want to play in this time of year. It means you're still winning. haha

Either way, each team got a good look at the other earlier this year and it will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

I simply cannot believe the Crusaders built a new stadium just to lure LINFIELD to it's first loss against the Mary Hardin.
TCB this week.
We're in for a gut-check.

assuming everyone takes care of business, this could be a fun playoff season to watch
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I kinda agree with couchcru11.  I think the weather will potentially have a bigger impact on fan presence (not to mention the timing, as crufootball mentioned, since most if not all classes are out next week due to Thanksgiving) instead of the game itself.  Hopefully there are enough students still in the area.  Alumni usually does a good job showing up.  I just don't want our fans to become complacent with all the success we've had lately.

Fall preview is this weekend so there will be students on campus. My daughter and her friend are going so we'll be in attendance

I and my Crufamily will be there this Saturday, and there is no way I am going to miss the Linfield game, that is one I really want to see (IF of course we handle our first game business) I usually hang out in the Students section, cause we can be as loud as we can and no one complains it's good to hang out with the Crunatics...

But beyond all of this, to the Linfield Family and fans, the deepest of condolences, words cannot aswage your loss.

Good to know.  I should know this, since my wife works on campus.  I guess I'm a little out of touch right now.  Grad School has consumed my life lately!

Was this a quote from somewhere?

The quote is from D.O.C. (Linfield alum) -- made with tongue pressing against his cheek I am sure.  ;D

I do hope for a match-up with the Cats in the second round. I might get to see some of the folks I knew when I lived in McMinnville.
