A LINFIELD blogger puts out slide show of Chapman game....

"NCAA D3 playoff football in Belton, Texas, Linfield at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB)  noon, Central Standard Time, Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014. That's the 9 a.m. Pacific Time the day after Thanksgiving."

I know Texas is BIG but does it really take two days to celebrate Thanksgiving there?

Not to mention that noon CST is 10 PST, not 9. :P

The CRU escaped with the win.  The lines got beat pretty bad, but I doubt that you will see another running back as good as Barolle the rest of the way.  The offense seemed mediocre, not the usual offense I am used to seeing from the CRU.  Looks like they are hoping too much for the big play.  This weeks game will be a test for both teams as it is a 1/4 final game in the bracket.  The winner of this game will certainly beat either Widener or CNU.

We scored our normal way, they just held on to the ball and we didn't put them out on 3rd down. Our Offense played well, though.

Taking nothing away from TLU at all, the Bulldogs played well and Barrolle is a quality back, but this was far and away the worst performance by a CRU defense in many a day - especially the line. Teams don't normally rush for 200 yards against UMHB, much less one player.

I think we saw the real TLU team today.  They definitely have some athletes.  That o-line was huge and pretty quick.  Think by end of playoffs we will see they maybe should have been ranked higher.  On stat sheets it showed TLU ran 99 plays to UMHB 35.

I don't think I need to tell most of you that Linfield is a very successful program. The Wildcats own the NCAA record for the most consecutive winning seasons which currently stands at 59 and counting!

UMHB played Linfield in the 2004 Stagg Bowl and defeated The CRU 28-21. In 2009, UMHB traveled to Oregon to take on the Wildcats in the second round of the D3 playoffs. Linfield downed The CRU 53-21.

Linfield College is located in McMinnville, which is approximately 30 miles south/southwest of Portland.

Much respect for the Linfiled program here.

Now....i think we all know the Cru is a clear and decisive favorite. I love this Linfield team and hope they can give UMHB a battle. Looking forward to visiting another D3 venue.

It won't EVER matter for the playoffs, though, as they will always come to Belton or we will go to Seguin.

I prefer the royal purple of my alma mater, MonvoviaCat, nothing personal.  8-)

By the way, I should explain: "Up with the Purple" is the alumni song of the university that dates back more than 100 years. UMHB was founded - along with Bayor - in 1845. Tradition holds that only alumni and seniors are allowed to sing the song.

A little more on a UMHB tradition: Midnight March.

At midnight, a few weeks before Spring Commencement, seniors in regalia march with lighted candles around Vann Circle Drive. As they sing the senior/alumni song, "Up With the Purple," they stop to light the candles of special friends and alumni. In the early stages of the Midnight March, the dormitory residents would witness the March inside of their dark rooms. Later during the ceremony, the residents would migrate into the hallway so senior friends could light their candles. Due to fire codes, however, the March was moved outdoors.

My class was fortunate to march in the dorms, very meaningful and memorable.

is think you will notice the difference between umhb's and hsu's facilities pretty quick. Big difference in that 180 miles
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Cru Mike

I might be one of the few who feel this way. However, after watching the CRU since the beginning of the program, this years team seems down. The offense has not been consistent all year. Way too many three and outs, low snaps, and weaker rushing game then what I am used to. The defense does not seem to be as dominate as years past. TLU's RB is a great running back and he played like it. Can UMHB beat Linfield or WW? Yet to be seen. It just seems to me that last years team had a much better chance to win a championship. I sure hope UMHB makes me eat my words.

D O.C.

I'll give you a + Mike.
I would most anyone who casts doubt on my upcoming opponent.
Still scratching my head (and you guys know I've mentioned this on your pages at least 3 times already) about that field goal in Belton against UWW last season.

Still puzzled by the 2009 game In McMinnville when the Crusaders came out swinging and then could not settle on a quarterback as we picked ourselves off the canvas.
