Good luck in the coming round(s), George.  If y'all win this weekend then the potential semifinal game against UWW would make for some good football.

I expect things will start to slow down around here, but I'm glad I joined up this year.  Hope to talk to all of you next season!  I'm already getting fired up for the 2015 edition of the Cru.

Have anyone seen the news about UW Whitewater? Head Coach Leipold as taken the head coaching job at FSB Buffalo.

I just heard about this.  Very interesting.  He's obviously a good coach.  I wonder who will take over.  They have good assistants and were a strong program before Leipold arrived.  Still, you never know how a new coach may shake things up.

Quote from today's Temple Daily Telegram: "UMHB only ran two defenses going into the week, and that's really all they ran. So we all knew what we were going to get."

Nice. Way to go UMHB.

The article also mentioned that Dana Taylor was out, again I say he needs to be kicked off the team. Coach Fred needs to go Charlie Strong on these boys. Two years in a row.

Mentioned that the running game struggled after Jackson went down. I don't recall Michael Carpenter getting a shot. Boy is fast and could have opened up the end.

It finally mentioned that there was a mix up before the final interception, that a tight end ran the wrong route. How the heck does that happen this late in the season?!

These little excuses and circumstances drive me nuts, and it is the same thing every year.

2001...I feel your pain.  I do not move on as well as I'd like.
I still feel the 2010 fumble we lost in OT on the 2 yard line in the 2nd round at St. Thomas after they settled for a field goal.
2011 in the 2nd round we had Wesley down 27-7 at the half in Dover. Lost big time.
Oshkosh blocked our game winning field goal in the quarterfinals at home in 2012 and then recovered our fumble.
I won't go in to how we couldn't get a first down against WW in 2005.
Elite is Elite. UMHB is.

Yeah, I think each team has a running list of close calls and disappointing endings to promising seasons.  It's the nature of the game.  What matters most is how those teams respond the next time around.  You gotta have faith and remain optimistic!  The Cru's time will come, hopefully sooner rather than later.

I know, but this is my place to vent as I don't have that too much personally. And believe me, I've been optimistic for at least the last 10 years. I'm always optimistic, just ask Pat or Keith, but there is always some time in which I need to vent and discuss my frustrations.

Fair enough.  I won't say I wasn't frustrated by the way the Cru played the last 2 weeks.  I'm sure this can be applied to every season since our last (and only) Stagg appearance.  I mean, I have no doubt that Coach Pete tells his players that their goal is to win it all every single season.  I haven't been a fan as long as some of you guys on here, so perhaps I just have a different perspective at this point in time.  I hope that we can capitalize and play to our true potential going forward.

It's okay to vent, Chad. I and others do understand. We live and die with The CRU.

I've followed the program since before its inception. I was present when the program was announced and attended the very first public fund raiser.

I have been relegated to watching from a distance for the past 16 years (7 in McMinnville home of Linfield and 9 in Pineville home of LC). Since 2006 - when we moved to Central Louisiana - we have made almost every home playoff game and a regular season game when we could work it in. This year, with all my kids graduated and no sons playing high school football, we made every game with the exception of Wisconsin La Crosse, Sul Ross and HPU. Next year I hope to try and not miss a game.

I believe UMHB's time is coming and once The CRU get the first national championship under their belt, I believe there will be more to come. Over the past 15 years The CRU is 163-23. Only a handful of teams in D3 can match that record.

Please remember. In the NAIA, the individual school pays for the post-season.  In D3, the NCAA picks up the tab. For the sake of the D3 budget, the NCAA would do better if the ASC and SCAC as currently constructed went to the NAIA.

Linfield fan here, regarding the bolded wording above:

I'm told that the NCAA changed the D3 travel-reimbursement process this year and that taking the same number of players/coaches/staff on the charter flight to Texas this year as we took to Whitewater last year would have cost us several tens-of-thousands of dollars more out of pocket. To mitigate this financial hit, we sent a number of our folks to UMHB via commercial flights.

I guess the NCAA must be suffering financially and had to cut back somewhere. ???

Hmm, interesting.  I knew that there were to be cuts, but I didn't know how that translated to dollars and cents when applied to a real situation.  Thanks for the input, OldCatProf.

To potentially put us all in a better mood when talking about running wrong routes deep into the season I will point every one in the direction of Kelly Boggs profile picture. I was told that too was a wrong route and that Walter Sharp was not supposed to be there but it certainly worked out.

Bottom line to me, we can all talk about this and that but on Saturday Linfield was the better team. It pains me to say that but if they don't drop numerous touchdowns that hit their receivers in the hand than we lose by much more than 3.

This is correct -- we've talked about this elsewhere. While the roster size is the same for the playoffs, the NCAA is picking up the tab for fewer support staff because of financial concerns.

It's a raw deal for the support people. Instead of getting home late Saturday night with the charter they'll lose an extra day due to not being able to depart till Sunday. In one hand, it's awesome to be still in it, so it seems silly to complain, but on the other it sucks to see the NCAA piling up money left and right and D3 continues to get squeezed at every turn.
